I'm sorry I never heard of it. I'm sorry you aren't doing well. I hope this new drug works for you.

(Olanzapine is Zyprexa.) I don't have anything to offer on that, having never taken it. Glad you recognized that you needed to go to the hospital and hope you are feeling better soon, dirt69juggalo

Olanzapine (Zyprexa) made me tired all the time, and I gained 30 lbs in 4 weeks, because I couldn't stop eating. (the swiss rolls did me in ). I didn't really get much benefit from it, but then again I was only on it 4 weeks. Hope it works for you, I've heard good stuff about it, but just watch what you eat.

Sorry your are having to go thru all this .

Altho I have never taken Zyprexa (yet) I do know some people who are taking it and they are happy with there results .

I dont think there are any psych meds that dont cause the dreaded weight gain ...

Some Pdocs brush off complaints of weight gain .. I assume that they are just trying to get you stable and dont really consider the issues that are going that rear up if you pile on weight . weight gain is not a healthy option as it can lead to other issues ,, heart diease , diabetes .. causing self esteem issues etc .

Good Luck , hope you get good results

My pdoc has a scale right out in the open in her office. I wasn't asked to get on it (and I already keep track on my own), but I'm assuming that it's for monitoring people's weight to make sure they're not gaining too much from meds. I've read about others' pdocs doing this. I take it to mean that some of them actually take weight gain seriously!

I have taken it many times. I works pretty good most times to get my acute mania or psychosis under control. I do gain a lot on it and pretty quickly. And I do feel quite sedated on it but was taking a dose of 30 mg a day which is pretty high. I hope this works for you, and I'm glad you went in for help. Good work!!

(((((dirt69))))) I know the weekend was really tough for you. So glad you realized the right thing to do by going to hosp.
These drugs work different for each individual. Give it time, read up on it, don't give up. Sometimes it takes several tries or med combo's to get you stable.
Sending you good thoughts, keep us posted!

Can you check yourself back in to the hospital or get some advice for help or just talk to some one?

Dirt69 What's going on, if you feel like talking.

Call your psych team & let them know how you're feeling.

There's nothing wrong with going back to hosp. If you can't deal & don't feel safe then go admit yourself. We want you feeling better!

Please take care of yourself.

Good news! But all the above advice is right on ... & the hospital isn't getting sick of you! They want you back if you're starting to feel unsafe.
Be very, very good to yourself.
