I was put in Inpatient in a psychiatric ward for two weeks following a suicide attempt. It was a real splash of cold water in the face. I never would have imagined myself in that scenario- every once in a while I'd just stop and think,"man, you're in a psych ward. I knew it was a really constructive place to be but I guess I still hate the stigma. I have some Prose and insight about the the when I'm more rested. Just wanted to start the thread while I was thinking of it.

Nothing like a visit to the psych unit for a wake-up call! I hope it helped!

I was in a psych ward for three days in June and 15 days in July - 18 days total. I was there because I was suicidal and having inpatient ECT. The hardest thing was calling my mother and telling her I couldn't come to the fourth of July celebration. I don't usually tell her when I am hospitalized. It had been 2 years since I was last admitted.

I was in this year from sept 27th to Oct. 7th. I know the feeling of "am I really HERE?" It makes you feel like you failed at life. I'm glad you went though and I hope you learned somthing from being there.

I was in for a week in 2008 for mania. I knew I had to go. I went to the ER, and said "I'm manic!". (I was also delusional). They (IV) sedated me and I was transported in an Emergency vehicle to a psych hospital. This according to my husband because I do not remember anything at all except the IV and the next thing I recall is I was fully dressed (I guess it was the next day) at the nurses station talking to them about my room assignment. I really needed to be inpatient. It was the best thing for me in a scary time.
