Was in for bipolar mania. Patients were assaulting me, which is scary bc i am in a wheelchair most of time n can only use left side of body. They were withholding MOST of my ordered meds, even psych meds they put me there bc I wasnt taking like I should. It was very traumatic.....had nurses saying the worst things anyone has ever said to me & were physically coming at me & getting in my face raising fist wanting to punch me bc it was so bad I asked to call doctor on call bc was in enough pain where protocol is emergency room, they said no unless i quit breathing completely, no patient advocate was allowed, no security, & no 911. Among many, many other things.........horrible & accomplished nothing as far as why I was there, actually made it worse. Several of them told me it would do no good to report all this, they said would all just stick together n nobody would believe a psych patient over all of them, TRUE!!!!

I'm sorry that happened to you, that's horrible. You need to call whoever is in charge of the hospital and report all of this.

Very sorrry you suffered thru such horrible conditions .. By ALL means report all of this ..to the hospital and also to the state medical board . Most all states have a 48-72 hour mandatory investigations. Psych Patient or not you have a right to recieve caring professional care .. Trust me make the call .. get the ball rolling and hopefully it willl save others from this horrible treatment ..

Sorry you have suffered thru it .

(((Hugs )))

Yes you need to report this! This is terrible! I agree to report it to the state as well just in case the hospital brushes it off.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

OMG! That's unbelievable (but I believe you). What sort of facility was it that you were in? I am a retired psych nurse and I worked several years at a state hospital. Things were rather dangerous there on the wards sometimes. Certainly not an excellent level of care med-wise or therapy-wise either. After I retired I had a manic episode and went to the ER (I knew I had to go inpatient) but I was adamant about which facility I would go to. (No state hospital!) I ended up in a private psych hospital, actually one in which I had done a rotation at when in nursing school. It was excellent. Sorry about your terrible experience. You should contact the administrators.
