Joy? Frustration? Let it all out here!

I'll start.

GGGAAAAHHHHH!!!! CHRISTMAS!!!!!! I don't want to go back out with all the normal people!!!! They scare me at Christmas!!! Seriously, they are nuts! And they say we're crazy?!?!?!?! Plus, my mom is totally off her rocker, my brother is driving me crazy (crazier?), and I just pray I can get all my shopping done!!!!

Fa la la la la.. GAH! And why isn't it snowing?!?!?! It's Christmas for Christ's sake (literally here, people)!

Lastly, Happy Hanukkah חג חנוכה שמח

I am... feeling a little better about Christmas now that I'm not performing in concerts across town every night, but seriously, I swear that the minute Black Friday hit the calendar everybody in this town forgot how to properly operate a vehicle. I've not had a single day this month that I wasn't almost hit while out driving, or I haven't witnessed somebody doing something especially stupid (like stupid even for Dallas drivers) on the road that makes me rage even if I wasn't involved whatsoever.

I don't even want to get started on the shoppers, they're even worse.

My family wants me to come over and go to church. I am intensely uncomfortable going to their church because I find their church cultlike and creepy, so I've agreed to come sing carols with them instead. It's what I've been doing for weeks anyway and it's the least I can do for my mother, who said that she wanted to hear me sing for Christmas. Also my boyfriend's father wants to meet me (we've never met in all the six years he and I have been dating). SURE let me get right on that.

Oh and yeah, no snow here either. Just cold. Though that's pretty normal this time of year. We had it two years ago though...

Nothing to do for Christmas this year other than what we usually do on any other weekend. Actually, even less because everything is closed. No friends around, our family is 500 miles away, craptastic non-wintery weather, and massive dissertation pressure.

Meh.

Looks like yet another non-holiday for us. We'll probably go for a walk somewhere cold, dull, and miserable, and then watch movies all day. I'd be better off working than wasting the day that way, but I have to make sure hubby gets his quality time. Maybe I'll cook something nice, but I have zero motivation for that just now...

I HATE CROWDS, SHOPPING, LINES, PARKING, I HATE THAT THESE PPL ONLY DO THIS FOR EACH OTHER ONCE A YEAR AND THEY DONT LOOK LIKE THEY'RE ENJOYING IT!!!

I HATE THAT I WENT TO THE PLACE TO SHOP WHERE YOU GET $10 BACK FOR EVERY $50 YOU SPEND - AND I 0NLY SPENT $99.97, SO ONLY $10 BACK!!!! SCREW THAT PLACE THAT STARTS WITH "KO" AND ENDS WITH "HLS". I WASNT ABOUT TO GO WAIT BACK IN THAT LINE AGAIN.

Sorry for yelling, i do atually like the decorations and lights and dorky Christmas music.

But still... BAH HUMBUG to this unnecessary stress!!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and Happy Solstice, and everything else. The good news = summer will come again now slowly after tonight's longest night.

I am actually not dreading Christmas this year because I didn't and don't have to lift a finger to do anything.

My husband took care of it all.

I never have to cook anything and go over my in-laws. However, this Christmas is going to be a bit sad because of the dog we lost a few months ago. Holidays always remind me of things like that. My parents also are not with us anymore, so it's just not the same.

My brother's girlfriend is soooo spoiled and it makes him so frustrated, but he does it anyway! He is buying her a ring (non-engagement) and spending almost $300. He has an eye for jewelry and picked out a BEAUTIFUL ring; however, she complained because it's white gold (IT LOOKS JUST LIKE SILVER, WHICH SHE LIKES)!!!!! He's ordering her another one. He spend over $500 for her for Christmas (it may be upwards of $700- I really don't know everything he got her). He was so broke, I had to help him buy other members of our family gifts (and I live on a PhD salary). I can't say much because I don't want to come off as the over-protective older sister; but it is hard to hold my tongue when I am usually outspoken.

On a funny note, but Jewish boyfriend was on a "I'm not participating in Christmas at all" kick. I told him I just wanted him to be there for me, so then he started his, "I will be there, but am not participating and don't you dare think about exchanging gifts" platform. Well, now he's not only bought me something but something small for my whole family. He even broke down and bought Christmas *gasp* wrapping paper! He's being a good sport!

Since Im feeling pretty tired and down, Heres some things Ive done to make Christmas less stressful. I put up a tree but only put lights and angel on it. Instead of putting a short note in the cards I send I just sign my name. Im giving gift cards instead of presents. In todays economy people can really get what they need. Ive told my Children I dont want anything except they call each other and mend some fences. Christmas is a time for forgiving. Happy Holidays Everyone!
