Things were starting to go pretty well for us. (A lot better than they were before) My husband has finally found a new job, and I was working on finding one myself. We have no savings, because we were living paycheck to paycheck. I am on my way home from visiting relatives (about 80 miles away) and halfway home, my power steering went out, the battery light came on, and it started to overheat. It was just the kids and myself, and my cell phone was beeping low battery. I was praying that I could reach someone to come get us. Thankfully my brother in law answered and came to pick us up (It took about an hour for him to get there) So he calls a friend who is a mechanic and he comes to tow our car. The damages weren't too bad. It only cost about $120 to fix, but we were broke so we had to borrow money from my grandma. I hate having to borrow money it honestly makes me feel like crap. Well she borrowed it to us, we were very thankful.
Well I get home and my husband looked quite upset, and I asked him what was wrong. He said that since he had no way to call into work (i had the phone, and we share a car) it counted as a no call no show, and he was terminated. I just don't know what we are going to do. His last paycheck came today, and every cent had to go to rent. I have been working my butt off filling out at least 10 applications per day, and I have only had 3 interviews. The first I didn't get because of a fine that is on my record (it should be on my juvenile record since it happened when I was 15, but I won't go to that), the second rejected me, because that's where my husband worked, and the 3 I may have gotten , but it was for an insurance company and to take the class and the tests is 300 dollars, which we do not have. I am so very very depressed and worried. I feel like a terrible mother, because I look at my 2 children who mean the world to me, and fear that we will lose our home. I have started the application process for assistance, but feel horrible for doing that....anyone have any advice/support for me??

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm so sorry this has happened to your family. Did your husband try explaining to the company what caused him to not call & not show up? Maybe his employers would listen to reason. I hope that you are able to find a job soon. Please know that you are not a terrible mother. You are a great mother, because you clearly love your children and are working really hard towards getting a job. ![]() |

My advice is to not beat yourself up for applying for assistance. Make sure you get all the assistance you possibly can. that is what it is there for. do you have a family resource center in your area? please google to find out. ask to speak with a family advocate. they will know the resources available to you. all areas typically have weatherization programs which will weatherize your homes to reduce your heating costs. there are energy assistance programs that apply money to your gas and electric bills. food stamps. medicaid. health and human services typically has a program that will help one time with the rent. food banks. christmas food basket. toys for tots or angel tree for gifts for the children for christmas. if you dont have a family resource center the salvation army may have this information for you.
Im so sorry you have all these hardships to bear, but there is help out there. please access it. i wish you the best. hugs ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I hear what you're saying! I know how hard it can be living paycheck to paycheck, we are the same way. Do not feel guilty about applying for assistance! We all need help sometimes. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise either. Life is hard enough without feeling guilty for needing help. And life can turn around. I really hope you and your husband can find new jobs soon. When it rains it pours, they say, but the storm always blows over.

thanks for that! it's just so hard. we've had such a difficult time ever since my husband finished his contract with the army. we moved to a bigger city away from our family to find better opportunities for work, but i kinda wished that we didn't so we could be near family and be able to ask them for a little help. they have always been supportive of us if we needed it in the past.... i got a fortune cookie today (online lol) that said "See the light at the end of the tunnel" I sure hope it's right
