No amount of times are too many if that is where you need to be. I'm sorry your still struggling so much. If you feel you need to go to the hospital than that is probably the best place to be.

I struggle with the just suck it up thing too. Honestly I make things much worse for myself when I try the bootstrap approach. So please don't feel like a baby, quite the opposite really, reaching out for help takes strength.

Hmmm...I personally don't think there is "too many", if the person truly does need the help of the hospital. Being suicidal and homicidal are usually the reasons somebody would go.

Myself, I have been to the hospital a total of 9 times, in the past 3 and a half years. I needed the hospital every one of those times, because there was suicidal thinking & intent. And they did help me out. That being said, going back is something I'm not planning on doing. But if nothing else was helping, I would get myself admitted.

I hope you don't focus so much on the amount of times spent there, but instead on achieving balance and mental stability in your life. If that includes another hospital admission, so be it.

There's no such thing as 'too many'. It's 'as many as you need'. Who's counting, anyway?

I wouldn't hesitate to go if you need to. And that is really the only criterion.

d69j, you are NOT a baby!! No way. We have an illness which tells us we cannot trust our feelings and/or they should be disregarded/downplayed. That doesn't mean it's true. That kind of thinking is a symptom.

I'm so sorry that you feel a trip is imminent - I really hope it will not come to that and you can find a way to get some relief soon.
