It sucks that I haven't found the right med combination. My pdoc just added Trileptal (oxcarbenzopine) which I will eventually be taking 900 mg of. Im also on Adderall XR 40 mg (for my depression not ADD), Alprazolam 1 mg, Mirtazapine 30 mg, Zolpidem 10 mg and Lamictal 200 mg. And after I am up to the full dose of the Trileptal she wants to add a small dose of Lithium to see if that helps with my moods. Usually I have problems with depressions but since I started the Lamictal I have had major issues with rapid cycling and extreme rage/anger.

I hate trying all these different meds. It feels like I have tried them all. She said that I will have to start trying the newer meds that are just coming out if none of these start working.

My pdoc is also wanting to do some genotyping testing on me because most of the meds that I have tried haven't worked for me even on the maximum dosage. I am a 5'4 130 lb 23 yr old women and on some of the meds (like zyprexa and seroquel) she has put me on the dosage for a 6'0 230 lb male and it still doesn't work for me. Or on some of the meds that I have tried they have work for about a month or maybe two before its like Im eating candy. This testing should be able to tell her how my body metabolizes the meds that she gives me. She suspects that I am classified as a "super fast" metabolizer and that explains why the meds dont work for me. Supposedly these tests will be able to help her prescribe the meds that will work best for me. But I dont know if my insurance will cover it or not and of course I wont get the tests until after the new year when my insurance deductible will reset (I have already met my deductible for 2011)

*sigh* I hate having to deal with meds!! Its a pain having to go to the pdoc (a 2 hour drive one way for me), having to get the prescriptions filled, having to refill the prescriptions (I go to a huge retail pharmacy and the technicians know me by name), then dealing with all the stupid side effects and trying to find out which med is causing what side effect. Im so sick and tired of meds!!

Sorry for the long, pointless, rambling post. I guess its just nice to know that all of you guys get what its like to deal with meds.

Hopefully Trileptal will help. I took 1200mg a day for 2 years. (i'm 5', 130lbs when i started on that dose) The side effects were awful the first two months while i was adjusting but they got less and less.

Good luck testing - it sounds really cool!
