Has anyone here tried Lithium Orotate? I've been told that it's something I may want to look into trying since it's OTC before spending more money then I have available on something else.
Lithium Orotate is suppose to help with stress, bipolar disorder, alcoholism, ADHD, ADD, aggression, PTSD, Alzheimer's and to improve memory. I've talked to a few people and they said that it sounds like I may be bipolar since I go from one extreme to the next with my emotions. |

First thing is, we here on PC are not professionals. They are the only ones who can diagnose exactly what you think your issues are.
I would be cautious with this because you can't be sure of the real strength & amt. you should take. Also I would think you would need regular lab tests to make sure your blood levels aren't toxic & your thyroid isn't suppressed, which is another thing that can happen with lithium. So with that said, see a doctor. There are county assistance programs, safety net programs, state assistance, Medicaid. Go to health Dept. or DHS & ask for a case worker to help navigate these since you don't have Ins. Take care. |

Lithium orotate is not a substitute for lithium carbonate. Please check the details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_orotate Just because it's OTC does not mean that it's risk-free, an appropriate treatment, or effective at all!
Lithium carbonate is very, very cheap as a prescription medication. But you do need to see a doctor, make sure you actually do need it, and if you end up taking it (there are other meds that may be preferable, many of which also have very cheap generics) then you also need to have your health monitored to make sure your body keeps functioning properly. No psychoactive meds should be taken without medical supervision! Kindachaotic mentioned a number of resources - it's a hassle, but it's a much better idea to get medical help than to try to treat yourself.
