Rylie, as you hang around the forum, you will learn about the people. What you are asking is some very private information that many people may not want to tell someone new. Don't feel bad if you do not get many answers. You will learn about the people here bit by bit.

Hi Riley,

I'm Anika, I have been hospitalized too. I was first dx at 17 and then went through a ten year period of denial and was dx again at 27. I'm 33 now and I'm from Canada. I'm dx with bipolar 1 Psychosis NOS, Anorexia, and PTSD. Right now I'm taking Lithium, and tegretol, although my meds are usually in a constant state of change.

I hope to get to know you too, welcome to PC. I'm sure you will like it here.

Hi Riley, nice to meet you. I was diagnosed with BP1 when I was 24, and recently with social anxiety disorder as well. Yes, I've been hospitalized before. Right now I'm taking Lamictal, Abilify and Vistaril and hoping I can stay on them for a while.

I hope you enjoy your time here, there are a lot of excellent folks on these forums.

I am just wondering why do you want to know these. IMho, diagnoses, meds and hospitalizations tell little about people. There is much much much more to us.

As a doctor you should be more concerned with the individual as a whole. Their past history should not color the way you look at a person. (Which could happen if you place too much of a focus on their histories and make judgements about them based on that)

In her training, I'm quite sure she will learn quite a bit about Past History; how to read and interpret such info, at least I would certainly hope so.

It's up to the patient how much one chooses to disclose. It's not to make a "judgement" against anyone. You could always just plainly state that you want to get their diagnosis first, before sharing that information with them.
