I feel so impatient and physically agitated lately. Sitting through class, watching a movie, getting through an assignment...I often can't do these things without staring at clock and wishing that I was done with them, but when I switch to the next task I experience the same impatience. I feel like I just can't be satisfied.
I also have an increased need to fidget and move. The restlessness builds up inside me, and after waiting for eternity to get done with event X, I just have to start bouncing my legs and drumming my fingers. It's getting really annoying and uncomfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do about this?

I've been there. I feel I can't sit still and its an internal restlessness. Try exercising or if you can't do you have anything like ativan?

Oh I've been going through the same thing recently! I am always bouncing my leg, tapping my fingers, or playing with my necklace! Even when I'm up walking around and doing shopping and stuff, I can't seem to stay in one place for too long. I'm just constantly moving....I've kinda found that stretching your legs really helps esp if you're bouncing them! Like tense them up and then release....its part of the whole progressive stretching relaxation thing that a lot of therapists say to do. It helps for a little bit at least....I hope that helps a little

Abilify can cause the side effect of feeling like you have absolutely GOT to move your legs, arm, or whatever. I don't know if that is what you are feeling, but my pdoc gave me a 1/2 mg of klonipin for the times when it gets severe.

I second that, could be Akathisia from the abilify? I had the same experience with abilify and was put on cogentin. That made me sick to my stomach tho. Or it could just be agitation, in which case I'd call it in if it's not getting any better. I get so agitated sometimes, I could pace for days but do nothing else.

Thanks for the responses. I've tried exercise and progressive relaxation; they do help a bit. Trying to immerse myself in what is going on helps too, but I can't always achieve that.
I suppose that it could be the abilify. I hope that it's not, though, because my pdoc said we'd have to lower the dose if I developed akathisia. I feel "unstable" (though better than I was) at the dose that I'm on, so I don't think that going any lower would be a good idea.

For me that's when I have to take an Ativan. Sometimes I don't realize I'm doing it until my husband or mom tells me to stop bouncing my leg, LOL.
