Hi. I'm zach.

I was diagnosed 2 months ago with bipolar, but 14 years ago was diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 35 now.

I'm taking Lamotragine(50mg) for a couple weeks then 100mg. And 300mg wellbutrin.

I've been taking welbutrin all along for 14 years (thinking I just had ADHD) and it was enough to keep my head above water, but that's about it. Some weeks I would sleep 14 hours and feel tired (and get up right before work and just go to work, is all I could manage) and some days I can sleep 1 or 2 hours and feel great the next day (and like I'm on speed!). Some days I can just drink 1 cup of coffee and be wired as hell, others I have to drink a pot of coffee just to stay awake.

So, I guess I'm bipolar. I was in denial about it, not realizing that it was abnormal. I thought it was just ADHD, or "just me being me" as I've always been like that, even as a kid. My psychiatrist lady said she had 'always suspected' I was bipolar and finally gave me a test to prove it.

anyways, just saying 'HI'.

HI, and welcome to the PC community! We give out lots of hugs around here, so I'll start you off with one to make you feel a little better about being bipolar. (really, it's not the end of the world, once you get medicated.) Hang in there until you come to terms with your diagnosis.

Hi and welcome Argv,

PC is a great place for support, an BugsBunny is right, we hug more here than the yogis at my studio, and that's a lot! Sometimes it takes time to accept a dx, but remember that with the right dx comes right treatment and things can start getting better. Nice to have you here.

Your story sounds almost exactly like mine! Even down to the same meds and ages for diagnosis. Funny how that works.

Welcome to PC! I'm sure you'll find a lot of good advice and support here.

Thank you all. I'm gonna do some reading and stuff, but I'll probably reply to some posts and stuff.

So, a little about me.. I am 35, have played music in bands and recorded a few cd's, and am working currently on a new recording project of my own. I have an ever growing number of tattoos (sleeved arms). Uhm.. I have a ****** attitude, and I think people hate me, and I don't much care for them either. Always have been extremely moody, even when I was really young. My dad committed suicide when I was about 5, and he was extremely moody as well, so I wouldn't doubt he was bipolar.

My mom, as well, was extremely moody and has been diagnosed (from afar) as possible bipolar. She's also a major asshole that I have a hard time talking to.

and up to this point, life has been a blur.. mostly me doing crazy *****, and then winding up in the hospital ready to end it all. I got referred back to my clinic where they told me it was bipolar and not ADHD. I used to go off my meds alot because I thought it was only ADHD and I used to drink and do alot of drugs. I know I can't do that stuff anymore, which doesn't make me sad at all, I kinda hated doing the stuff anyways, but it was an escape I guess.

Ok, so that's more about me. I appreciate the hugs.

Ah, a fellow musician. I'm on the classical side of things though.

I gotta say though, it's a huge relief to see people with the same problems I have! I kept wondering about the ADHD, as I read a bunch of books and tried to study it, but had little in common with the diagnosis, just never thought to look further, and never thought I was the big "bipolar". haha.

so, I appreciate you all being here. I left facebook because peoples' happy posts were just killing me. haha

ok, ttyl!

Well, I play doom metal, but am thinking I should get more into some jazz and stuff. I never really took lessons, so I got alot to learn (I typically play drums).

You're self-taught? That's pretty impressive. What other things do you play? I tried guitar but I only know a few chords, nothing to write home about.

The funny thing is that I'm a vocalist with a local symphony orchestra but my musical loves are basically industrial/EBM, aggrotech, and darkwave. I've been considering getting into it as a performer as well as a fan.

And... I'm rambling and derailing your thread! So I'll stop now.

Naw it's cool! I ramble myself.

Well, I'm not a GREAT drummer. I've been kinda tinkering around since I was 13, but I can make some pretty impressive beats. I tinker with guitar and bass as well. I do all the instruments myself in this recording project. And write the lyrics, which I need practice, but alot of my friends were wow'd by my first couple tries I guess.

I'll have to look up those bands, maybe tonight. I gotta go see the psychiatrist lady here in a few minutes, then go to work. Bleh.

I hope you decide to push your endeavors further! My new found diagnosis excites me in the fact that I can quit trying to act normal like I had been doing for the past few years, and just be me. Now I'm rambling. ok. I'm done.
