So for the past 5 to 6 months I've been severlt depressed and have low energy. Barely felt like doing anything at work and don't really leave the house on the weekends. Out of no where this past week I've been bouncing off the walls like I can't stop have loads of energy goofy as hell get on my nerves sometimes with how offnthe walls I am. My therapist back in October said she thinks I might be bi polar but is unsure. Just hope this good mood continues but have a feeling ill feel like crap once the weekend gets here.

I can't make a diagnosis, only your T or pdoc can do that, but from what you describe, it sounds like it. The depression suddenly morphing into bouncing off the walls is a pretty good indicator. I would recommend getting in contact with your T so she can see you in this manic-like mode and make an actual diagnosis. Or at least you can give her all the gory details.

In the meantime, pay close attention to your spending (a lot of manics go on spending sprees), driving speed (wheeeee, I'm doing 85 in a 30 zone!) and stay away from caffeine, it'll just make you worse.

Good luck!!

I just made online purchases yesterday! I love victorias secret! And I've always had a problem with speeding. I have the points to prove it. Trying to fix that one can't afford not to fix it.

Okay, for the duration of your manic episode, take your credit card, or cards, and put them in a ziplock bag. Fill a bowl of water, put the ziplock full of card(s) into the water, place something heavy on top of the cards for the for the first few hours, then allow the water to cover over your card.

Now, if you want to make an impulse purchase, you will first have to thaw out the ice block your card(s) is in. The time it takes to thaw the cards out will give you time to decide if this is a rational purchase or a manic one.
Also, you can't do any impulse shopping at the store. Keep your cash, checkbook, or debit card out of the freezer, though.

This should prevent you from going into serious debt until you can get stabilized.

Cool strategy!

Unless you have the card numbers memorized or saved in online accounts.

Yes, I have at least one of my card numbers memorized - I've had it for years and entered it many, many times for online purchases...

I don't have a credit card. That helps too.
(I loved reading that idea, Buggs! Very useful and amusing at the same time. )

Triciadrich, when do you see your therapist again? Have they suggested a Pdoc (since therapists can't diagnose)?

Haha, I don't have a credit card anymore either - I don't trust myself to have one - but that is an excellent idea and I will have to remember it.

Triciadrich, no one here can diagnose you but if you feel your therapist is on to something it would be a good idea to ask for a pdoc referral. I hope you can get a definite answer one way or another. Good luck.

Yea I don't like my pdoc from when i was hospitalized but I like the meds he prescribed. I think there are pdocs that work out of my therapists practice. I will make an appointment tomorrow with my therapist and go from there.

Definitely check in with T and pdoc but it sounds a lot like bipolar. Keep a journal to track how long moods last and what your thoughts, moods, and behaviors are. Give stats to professionals and then consider a potential diagnosis. It could take a couple of cycles before a diagnosis can be made.
