I just came across this article that I thought was well a little nice. It's nice to read good things about Bipolar once in a while. Not glamorizing, but where ever there is negative there is also positive. Thought you guys might enjoy this a lil.

http://www.medwire-news.md/47/87789/...al_traits.html

One thing in the article that stuck out to me was this "Clinicians should aim to preserve and enhance these traits since they may improve illness outcomes."say co-author Nassir Ghaemi.

I couldn't agree more, but sadly this has not been my experience.

Now I am not a big article reader, or statistic smart, or research smart for that matter, but I still thought it was "nice".
Thanks for this!

WOW, thanks for sbaring that Anika.

There really are a lot of positive things associated with Bp disorder, and it was nice to read about them.

That is awesome and it makes a lot of sense (and I am happy a non-crazy person said it too, because when bipolars say this, it's often chalked up to "lack of insight"). I could relate to much what was said in there. Spiritual, empathetic, realist and creative... yeah, that is me.

Haha yes, empathy and compassion, can we not all say we see a great amount of those traits here on the forum. Despite the fact that this is a support forum, when I have gone to other support forums, for other issues, I have not come across as much empathy as I do here. And all forums on PC are full of empathy, that is true, but the Bipolar forum here is very busy, and I think we do an excellent job without a lot of moderation.

"However, I must admit that one of the reasons why I have specialized in bipolar disorder is because it seems like nearly every single person with bipolar disorder I see is unusually creative or intelligent or charismatic or something."-Dr. Jim Phelps

That quote is yet another reason why I love that man.

Thanks for the article, Anika. It is really encouraging.

That Explains It!

This forum offers more positive feedback, validation and support than any other forum on this site!
Everyone here supports everyone, asks after those who are not posting, this is truly a very caring group of people.
You don't even have to post about BP, you can post about a bad at work and everyone here will rally round you. It is very cool.

I have PTSD and although I can relate to many posts over there, that group doesn't respond they way this forum does.
And I very much agree with the section in that article regarding PTSD.

Thanks For Sharing Anika!

I wonder if BP is a side effect of being empathetic and all that jazz rather than the other way around...

There are times I wonder if I did not bring this on myself by being "me".

I love when they compile studies like this because they reveal something that isn't quite known. (It seems...)

DD This made my day.

Fantastic article. I am not particularly spiritual myself, but I notice a lot of people with BP are.
