have been diagnosed bipolar manic rapid cycling. severe anxiety, and depression. thought meds were doing ok until lately started having more extreme highs then the extreme lows where you are just crying and cant stop. to top it off, a new symptom has reared its ugly head paranoia. am on serequil 200mg. dont know if there is a higher dose or not, for depression on citalopram (celexa) the anxiety i think is under controll but could use some opinions. am poor, have free insurance but only see psyco doc every 2 or so months since its free medical and low cost scripts any advise. hoping that this forum will act kinda like a doc that i can talk to since my doc is just basically how you doing heres you meds no therapy or talking. any advise, input, suggestion would be great

There is room for your dose of seroquel to go up. My pdoc put me on paxil for the paranoia and anxiety. I also take ativan for anxiety/aggitation. The paxil has really helped and it is not expensive.

200 MG of seroquel isn't a very high does, so you do have room to increase. I also take ativan for anxiety. I would probably try an increase in seroquel before scrapping it. Easier to try an increase than it is to try a new med altogether. Pdocs usually do not do therapy or much talking, they mostly do do just meds. Can you get a therapist with your insurance?
Thanks for this!

Higher dose of Seroquel may help with paranoia - it is an antipsychotic.

Can you complain of all these symptoms and ask to be seen once a month? Maybe it is possible if you raise your voice.
Thanks for this!

I've tried lots of SSRIs including Celexa and all have made me psychotic and when I stop, that goes away, mostly.
Thanks for this!

Personally if the meds have worked ok un the past I would stick with them and up them. You can go a lot higher on seroquel and celexa. See hiw that works maybe if you bipolar you could ask about adding ability if u ask ur doc im bipolar and added it w my antidepressant and it tweaked it enough to help a lot! But that's between u and ur doc! Just an idea! Good luck!

thought about the abilify thing. just so happens my mother works in pharmacy and said that if u get put on abilfy they would have to take me off serequel. i hear there is alot more room on serequel and celexa so may just keep asking for higher dose. i just dont want to be a zombie and dont want to be drowsy so i can start driving again

hope you can get your disability decision soon. If you need to vent out your frustration please keep on posting. I also have found that writing a journal has helped me when I couldn't afford a therapist. Writing things down was a bit like talking things through and helped me to put things into perspective.
Hope that it can help for you too.
