Which ones?
I am looking for the right mix. I have not been on an AD in a long time. I suffer a lot of unremitting depression and while I dont normally go to a doc with a med I want in mind, I need some ideas of what combos others are on.

I'm on effexor and trileptal, along with Lamictal. They seem to work well for me.

Good luck!

Lamictal + Wellbutrin XL + Seroquel so works like this, mood stab with antidepressant effects + antidepressant + atypical antipsychotic for mood stab/put insomnia to sleep effects.

Nothing wrong with telling the doc you've done some research (do go beyond anecdotes here please) and asking to try something.

Lamictal and Celexa. I found Wellbutrin worked well as an AD but I needed to take Seroquel for sleep and then overslept. I eventually became tolerant to it anyway.

There are a few combinations of antidepressants, antipsychotics and mood stabilizers which seem rather successful in the treatment of bipolar as opposed to the use of just one group of medication.

Personally I'm on and off different medications as we're trying to find out which combination is the best for me. I'm on Lithium (mood stabilizer), Quitiapine (antipsychotic) and Sertraline (antidepressant) as my main bipolar combination...and it is pretty good at controlling my moods. (When I take them regularly, which I mostly don't during both depressive and manic episodes).

Sorry about that poorly structured reply...rather sleepy!

He gave me a list to consider, Celexa, Lexapro, Cymbalta, Pristiq, or Viibryd. He has samples of Cymbalta and wants to try it, but I wont be able to afford it if it works.
So I read up on Celexa and Lexapro and asked to give Celexa a try.

Good choice. Lexapro is a combination of celexa and prozac, so best to start with just the one drug and not the mixed combo.

The Jury is still kind of out on my new pdoc, but I do like how open he is to input and easy to communicate with (gave me his cell number and I can email anytime, which is easier for me).

Wow, his cell number and email! Now if he's a good listener, and knows his stuff, Keep him! I'd die to get my pdoc's email!

I was very suprised when he offered those. He recognizes I am paying most of the visit out of pocket each time and can't keep coming back so frequently.

I have my pdoc's email but not his cell number. I think he gave my mom his home number when I went missing (not my greatest moment,) but I wouldn't want it. I'm fairly sure if I would ever need the cell number, I would just go to the ER instead. I will never call the crisis team again.

I used to have my old pdocs cell and email. I had his email so that I could email him my mood charts from the mood tracking app on my phone. I had his cell because he was away a lot. I only ever used it twice, and only because he instructed me to do so. Both were med changes and he was on holidays.

I have tried many ads with mood stabilizers. I haven't had any luck. I think the best luck I had was tegretol, lithium, and celexa. I actually made it to a three month mark before I became manic.

I am on Wellbutrin 450mg, Prozac 40mg, Ativan 2mg and Seroquil 1200mg a day. But lately I have been cycling so rapidly I think I need something changed. I have been on this mix for a few years and it really does not seem to be doing much at a moment...

I have been going to my pdoc for over a year. We still have not found a drug combo that works. I am a bit frustrated with him. I was taking Lamictal but was having a weird side effect that made me off balance where i was falling down the stairs alot and tripping. He said it wasnt from the med but when i told my GP she said it was and so did my surgeon (I recently had my gallbladder removed). I also read it on a few websites and asked a pharmacist. He still looked at me oddly. Not real confident in him now. I told him I wanted off of it so now that one is out.
I am taking Effexor XR 150 mg, Wellbutrin SR 200 mg, and Topimax 25 mg. Last visit with pdoc I was very upset and said I didnt feel the meds were working and gave him a particular incident of lets just say "extreme behavior" toward my husband. Even I thought it was over the top and he just calmly said that I didnt need to take the meds if I didnt want to if I didnt feel they were helping. Then asked if I had always been that way (temperment). I thought I was going to get up and choke the man. Who was I paying all this time to listen to me? Anyway I asked him why I was taking the meds and what I said above. He then said we coulf try some different meds. FINALLY!!!
I beleive he suggested Depakote and Pristiq for the Lamictal and Effexor. But when I mentioned the gallbladder surgery he said that could have something to do with my physical and mental symptons and wanted to wait. So now I wait.

I know I am in desperate need of a mood stabilizer! My whole family will vouch for that. I guess I need to take them or a recording of them to the doc with me. Im going to see how things go as far as removing my gallbladder and hope that makes a difference. That was making me pretty sick and stressed out beyond words dealing with that.
