I've been diagnosed with bipolar for the past 5 years and in that time I've had every antidepressant .They either work for a month or 2 or the side effects are so bad that I can't continue on them. I've also had ECT to try and lift my depression but that only had a minimum effect. Now I'm on no medication at all because it was not doing anything, I spend more time being depressed than being manic.
I don't know where I am at present and I don't know where to turn to next. Guess we will just keep trying anything my doctor sugests

Have you thought about going to a different doctor? It's never too late to start from scratch. Having a good doctor is so important. It's important that you and the doctor are on the same page while your medication is being adjusted. I know, side effects really do suck but there are so many different types of medication out there. Fight to feel better and don't give up!

I understand that "treatment resistant" depression. I've been on everything too, including ECT. We just decided to stop current meds and go back to square one. Not helping much yet. May retry ECT, although I'm not too sure about that one. It is so frustrating, but hang in there. You sure aren't the only one.

Dean, I too am on nothing now because my internal medicine doc believes my dizziness and fainting is caused by my meds so he told me to stop them. I feel horrible and I am starting with a new psych in April. I feel for you because I know where you are coming from. Now I just don't care about anything and to get out of bed in the morning is near impossible. Hang in there!
