For anyone who has had a lithium blood draw any idea why the lab took not only blood but a urine sample? Seemed odd to me.

Hmm no idea, I haven't ever had a urine sample in the 6 or so years I've been taking lithium. The only thing I can think of is that the body gets rid of lithium through the kidneys, maybe has something to do with that? I really don't know. Maybe just call your dr up and ask?

Probably checking your kidney function, as lithium can damage your kidneys over the years.

I always get my kidney function tests through blood draws, can they do that with urine samples? Now just asking out of curiosity.
