I am a night owl and don't go to bed until midnight or a little after midnight, and I wake up at 4:30 to 6:30 in the morning.

I am curious to see what everyone's sleep schedule's are.

I got to bed between 10 - 11:30 depending when I can get the baby to sleep. Then I am up at about 2-3 a.m. to feed the baby. Then again at 5 a.m. My alarm goes off at 6:20 but I lay there until 6:50ish and feed the baby. I then drag myself up and get everyone up at 7:00 so we can be out the door at 7:30. I can't wait because in 2 weeks summer break starts for my 5 year old and I won't have to drag everyone out of bed, just me.

On weekends, though, me and the baby sleep from about 5 a.m. until 8 - 9 a.m. Those are my favorite days.

Hey there,

Well really depends when my meds kick in. I take them at 7pm, when I first took them I would be zonked out by 10pm-11pm. Now I am all over the place. Meds took at 7pm but I'm usually still up 1-2am. Ironic as I take a sedation med lol! Psych says I am too sedated as I am not up till 1-2pm sometimes. I struggle with getting up in the mornings. I am definately a night person.

4am-6:30am, while unemployed, and then I sleep again between 8am and10am again. While employed, usually 2:30am -5:30am. Usually once a month I'll pass out before midnight and get a full nights sleep. On a sidenote, beside the once a month thing, I have to WILL myself to sleep or it won't happen, I'll just stay awake indefinitly...

WoW Trippin, that's rough. I would think you would go completely manic. When I don't sleep that much, I go straight into mania.

How do you stay awake during the day?

I go to sleep about 3 am and wake up between 7-7:30. In the summer tho I wake up around 5 am every morning, despite having a dark room. Seems like enough sleep for me tho, I've never slept the recommended 7-8 hours. Seems to function fine on four hours. But when I'm getting less than that it does trigger mania quickly, when I'm manic I might get 5 hours in a week, usually I will only sleep every 3 days or so.

My sleep schedule is all over the place, but part of it is finals.

If I take seroquel I can usually get myself to sleep around 1 or 2 a.m.
If I don't, I usually fall asleep around 3-4 a.m. (Sometimes later)

I wake up around 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. if I don't have anything planned for the day.
Otherwise I wake up 1 hour (approx) before I need to do anything in the morning. So like 8:45-9:00 a.m. in the morning if I have class at 10:00 a.m. I am a chronic sleeper. I can easily sleep 12 hours if I have nothing to do all day. :\ I can't function on 3 hours of sleep for more than a day. Even when I am hypomanic, 6 hours is considered sleep deprivation for me.

Hopefully I will work on my sleep schedule so I am sleeping 8-9 hours after my finals.

My alarm is set for 4:35 a.m. ... I'm generally up between 3:00 & 4:00 a.m. naturally though ... It should be a sin to wake up that early unless you're goin' fishin' ... Since I wake up that early, I do my best to be in bed somewhere between 8 - 9 p.m. ... And it isn't unusual for me to be in there at 7:00 p.m. when I'm extra tired ...

Wow, how do you guys survive on so little sleep? None of you are a little bit manic already?

Before abilify, I'd go to bed at around 2-3 and get up around 8 or 9. Now, I go to bed at 11 and get up at 8. I can only get away with under 4 hrs when hypomanic.

Well, I'm usually busy during the day, so it doesn't occur to me that I might be tired once I was awake for 4days solid, and I was angry coz there was nobody to keep me company. BORED0M got to me LMAO, not mania. As far as I know, my sleep schedule doesn't seem to bug my bp, but I don't want to tempt fate, that's why I nap again at 8am. I function fine regardless of the amount of sleep I get...

I pretty much go to bed the same time every night to maintain a sleep schedule which is around 11-11:30pm but what time I get up varies. It can be anywhere from 4:30-9am, and that's with taking Ambien CR. Once I wake up it's all over and have a very slim chance of ever getting back to sleep, and naps just don't happen regardless of how early I get up.

The longest I have been awake was 6 days straight, a few times, but only when manic. I dunno I started having insomnia around 12 year old and it's never got back to normal, but I function just fine with three or four hours, don't feel tired at all. My bf though loves to sleep, and loves to sleep in very late, so that kinda sucks, hard to compromise there, I only ask that he get up early with me one day every week or two.. Early meaning around 10 am or so.

I hate waking up at 4:30- 5 am cause there is literally nothing to do. I usually go work in my garden at 5 am in the summer, not too hot that early and I think all the bugs are still sleeping.
Thanks for this!

When I was manic, I had almost no sleep. Now, since I don't have a reason to get up in the morning I stay up all night and fall asleep at 6am and wake up around 1pm. Awful habit. but I love the night! Will kill me when I find a job though, I was never a morning person

I wake up at 6:00am on the dot because I have a rooster that crows.

I generally go to bed somewhere between 11PM and midnight. My alarm goes off at 6AM for work, but often I've been up an hour or so before that. It really is not enough sleep; I do best on 8 or 9 hours but almost never get that.
Thanks for this!

Haha, this is what happened to me! After usually staying up till somewhere between 3-5:00am, I got a job and had to be UP(!) at 5! I tried dialing it back, but... not easy! I do manage these days to not put it past midnight or 1, but yeah, it's usually 11:30 or midnight. And it's not because I'm tired, it just feels like an obligation. (Now, the schedule's a little lighter, and I don't have to get up till 5:45). Just the other night I loudly declared, "I hate normal people hours!" Lol.

Had to check mood chart, as it's not particularly consistent on number of hours. Looks like 5-6 1/2 is a pretty populated range. But 4 is fine too. I hate mornings regardless of how much sleep I've gotten. Though I don't typically get less than those 5 - 6 1/2, nights of less are no problem. No one would know. To the question of how one does not go manic... for me, if we start talking 0-2 hours, then yes, I'll be off to the races. Especially if the lack of sleep is connected with a trip or something I want to do.

On the other hand, depression usually means hypersomnia for me.
Thanks for this!

I go to bed anywhere from 9 pm to 5 am. I can get between 0 and 14 hours of sleep a night. My doctor asks me what my usual night is like and can't understand that I really don't have one. I might have a steady sleep pattern for a week until I'm thrown off. Problem is the longer I'm awake, the more energy I have.

I know how you feel! I would dread and welcome the day when I have to go back to work and be on normal people hours. UGH! It's like a blessing and a curse. Yeah I understand what you're saying though about the mania, I actually have to take Benadryl to knock me out at like 7am when I should be dead tired from being up all night. C-A-RAZY!!

I get up too early and go to bed too late lol.....a Bi-Polar can never get it right, or get enough sleep lol.....I am forced to get up at 7am for my motherhood duties of getting children off to school, but I am sometimes awakened in the middle of the night by my on-call position with the coroner's office. On a normal night, I try to get in bed by 10 to sleep, perchance to dream, but its usually sleep, perchance to look at the ceiling til about 1am....
