I have been taking Geodon since May 2011. I have been experiencing tiredness in the AM with it. I was taking one dose in the AM and one dose in the PM.

My pdoc just switched it to both doses at PM. So I am wondering has anyone else taken their full dose at night and does it affect how they are during the day. Can it cause mania?

I was curious if I was experiencing the onset of mania today. I felt very hyper which I haven't felt in a very long time. I was also driving and getting mad at other drivers today. It seems to have passed but the last time I had mania I couldn't really tell what I was doing.

I always had to take my geodon early in the evening so that I could function by morning. Unfortunately, after awhile that didn't even work and the drowsiness made it dangerous to drive in the morning. Finally had to go off of it which was frustrating because it really worked beautifully for me. I never had any trouble with geodon causing mania; quite the opposite actually.

I took Geodon in the pm for sleep but it gave me lots of trouble waking up to drive and work safely in the am. Just got switched out for something else, we'll see how that works.

Yes I have had to before when I was on Geodon. That tired feeling will eventually go away and you wont be able to tell you even took it. I was on 80mg. It may just take you a month or two to adjust. Geodon was a life saver for me and had no weight gain but I did have some weight loss on it. Im not sure if it was the Geodon or the Prestiq causing the weight loss though. It could have even just been nerves at that time I was going through a lot of persoal issues. Good luck with the Geodon I hope it works for you as well as it did for me.

Hi. I have been on Geodon for over 2 years and it has been great at keeping my manic and mixed episodes in check. I started out by taking all at night and was a little tired in the morning, however, that wore off after a few months. I found that the best time to take it for me is around 8:30 pm. However, I have since gone to taking half the dose in the am and half at 8:30 pm, per a recommendation from my doctor. This has worked out well for me. I think Geodon actually has some mild anti-depressant effects also for me. Lost weight on it as well - a really good drug.

Let us know how it goes with splitting the dose. Hopefully you will adjust to taking a lower dose in the morning and then again in the evening. It worked for me.
