Is it out of the ordinary for someone with bipolar to experience some hypomanic symptoms at a particular time of day that only lasts a few hours? I get this way at night sometimes. Around 10 or 11pm, I get really bug-eyed awake and can't sit still and need to go out and do something! ANYTHING. Usually this ends up with me going shopping, at the only place open at night, Walmart. I want to go to walmart Sooooo bad tonight but I took some opiates impulsively and KNOW I should NOT be driving right now. But it sucks because I can't get myself to sleep usually not till 2-3am if not later when this happens.

I actually get more energy as the day goes by. In the evening / night I'm ready to be awake. But in the morning I am groggy and function poorly. I think everyone has some type of internal body clock that doesn't always conform to society.

When I'm exeriencing periods of mania I Always have bursts of energy around 2 am. I also find that when the sun comes up I want to crash and feel anxieties about facing other people. Doesn't that sound a lot like a nocturnal animal like a raccoon or tom cat?

Yes, yes it does. Maybe we're some type of vampire? Just kidding.

I always get the late night energy burst, too. The meds are all that stops me from hitting Walmart at midnight.

I wouldn't want to think of myself as a vampire. But maybe some of these traits are in our DNA the same as a bear hibernates or the birds migrate. Why rule out the possabilities?

I wake up groggy from my night time meds, and get higher and higher as the day goes by. I take my night time meds at around midnight and am able to get an okay sleep, I guess, even if it's only about 4-4-1/2 hours.

When I wake up in the morning and my husband is sitting in the chair ready to go to work, he doesn't understand a single thing that comes out of my mouth because I am so stoned. The meds wear out as the day goes on and I always get a whole lot higher.

I fully believe that we are some type of "offshoot" of what is considered "normal people." Like instead of waking up in the morning we are awake at night. Why? To keep watch? We need more energy at night to fend of the dark monsters for those people who sleep all day. Or maybe to hunt food or animals that are nocturnal. So while half the tribe is asleep the other half is awake, and we all take care of each other.

Then this whole "society" thing came along and they made all these rules like "people should be awake during the day whether they like it or not." And instead of hunting, we're making "money" the imaginary value maker. Instead of a spear, now you need $30.

Just like I totally believe the theory that people with high anxiety were necessary back then because, "Hey, did you hear that twig snap? Could be a bear. Let's run like hell!" Except now it's "OMG I'm in the grocery store! Run!" You see... it doesn't make sense now, but back then it did.
