I hear you. Better to be going the speed limit than too slow or fast. LOL. I like how you put it.

When I was in my late teens/early twenties I thought mania was some sort of magical episode that was happening to me. I used to say "the tides are high" as in "energy tides." I thought I was experiencing more or less energy flow which made me feel like I was bursting with energy, super creative, but also emotionally volatile, and I thought other people were effected by it, too. (And when depressed the tides were too low.)

I like the way you say it, though. Makes perfect sense.

Another thing, if you ever saw Futurama in the old episodes where Fry drinks 100 cups of coffee and he reaches nirvana, and it's like the world freezes around him... LOL... somtimes I think of mania like that when it's really bad. Everything is standing still except for me!

I never have the words to explain a normal vs a bad day (either up or down) to others. The speed limit analogy is wonderfully simple and complete. Thanks for sharing.

I was looking for the like button of Facebook fame. When I am going 100 miles/hr, I worry I am going to lose control.

When I'm doing 80mph, and my foot feels twitchy, I get worried because I know that when I reach 100mph, I'm past worrying about control - I just want to floor it and ramp jump the hills

Touche. I've never gotten so high that I lose the ability to worry about losing control.
