So if I pass the background check I will be employed with no insurance and earning not that much but more than allowed to keep county care. That would mean, out of pocket, at least one and likely more psychiatrist visits a month (I found a good private psychiatrist while in prior employment and will go straight back to him). Additionally, that would mean all meds out of pocket, and that, especially considering Geodon, is a whole lot - close to a 1000 a month. Plus regular labs, the p-doc - he is vigilant about them. I am supposed to pay support and I am afraid that instead I will be paying pharmaceutical companies.
And the main culprit - Geodon. Naturally, I think of trying something not so egregiously expensive. What are some other cheaper APs, except 1) Zyprexa because I gained weight on it 2) Seroquel because it did not quell mania AND gave me terrible akathisia 3) Risperdal because it gave me pseudo-parkinsonism although I imagine we can try it with Cogentin and see what happens then. Actually, Zyprexa is a moot point, Zyprexa is not cheap. Risperdal is probably cheap by now. What else should I be considering? At the same time, something tells me - Do you want to experiment on yourself right when you need to perform, learn new, complex and unfamiliar duties? I once was in Europe and did not buy Geodon because I was about to return to the States (where it was free for me) and did not to spend $300 or $600 or whatever it cost. The resultant mania cost me what remained of a relationship with my ex-husband. I stopped, virtually, seeing the children and other bad things ensued. Shouldn't I heed the warning and just bite the bullet and pay whatever Geodon costs because it works? |

Here's a link to a thread about generic geodon. Apparently it just came out I think. You might want to check it out. |

Yes, it just came out in March, but it costs only about 100 dollars less than the brand one if you buy it without insurance. Of course, I plan to buy generic, but it would be still over $700 a month for me or more (I take 80mg pills and a 20mg pill, so it's two prescriptions).
