yeah i do.

Im hesitant to take them right now as im pretty sure im cycling to some degree and they probably will do next to nothing. Though I did take two last night, again with no effect.

I dont feel that bad in fact i feel highly ok which is suspicious lol.

I just dont get why i am not tired.

And yes, im still awake lol.

Sounds like your overly tired. When I go into a cycle I get wired too but then after a couple days my body just crashes. Actually I think the whole time my body is ready to crash but my brain can't sit still long enough to let it!

Sorry to hear things are like this for you...are you taking a mood stabilizer?

not yet DJ...

Im just newly diagnosed by Therapist and Reg Doc.He at first said He isint comfortable adding a mood stabilizer without first seeing a psychiatrist, but we didnt think it was going to be this long either.

Its pretty new to me - but you know, Ive been having these symptoms off and on my whole life and just thought it was normal. (The stayng up for long stretches untired, the extreme lows) the guess right now is bipolar II as it seems that I have more lows than highs, and my highs while highly energized arent extremely manic.

Im really thinking of going back though and making the suggestion again for something in the mean time. I mean, I just slept an hour and a half and I feel like I slept all night.

Time for a change I think, my bodys gonna wear out fast if this keeps up for any length of time ( this has been happening pretty much steadily for the past few days).

Sorry to hear that you still can't sleep; that is SO frustrating.

Just an aside, the DSM-IV-TR defines a manic (as opposed to hypomanic) episode as 7 days of manic symptoms (hypomanic is either 3 or 4, I forget). It only takes one manic episode for a DX of BP1, not that it makes any real difference.

It is a shame that you have to wait to see a pdoc...that can be very frustrating. You may want to keep a mood chart or journal to help the pdoc when you do see him. Chart your mood, hours of sleep, note any unusual behaviors (such as excessive spending, risky sexual behaviours or sudden major life decisions). Some people also chart excercise, meds taken, caffeine and other foods consumed.

Above all, don't worry about your diagnosis, whether you are 1 or 2 or something else; at this point it really doesn't make a huge difference, although you probably shouldn't take antidepressants as they will tend to encourage mania/hypomania. Learn as much as you can about bipolar, there is lots of good stuff out there. If you can find a good support group you should go; I've seen several folks with new diagnoses who were greatly relieved by what they learned.

Most of all, remember there are people who do understand and care; that can be easy to forget when you are in the middle of an episode at either end.

I wish you only the best, plenty of support and love as you learn to deal with bipolar disorder; it's going to be OK!

Hugs,
DJ
