I was recently diagnosed with bi-polar 2 & struggle with self injury & occasional suicidal thoughts (I'm in therapy). I've registered with & am reaching out on this thread because I've just been too burried in self pity to accept this diagnosis, & too afraid to let anyone in other than close family members. The path that's led to this diagnosis was an addiction, mutliple broken relationships, family loss, & a difficult marriage. I feel incredibly isolated & ashamed about a condition I have some but little control over, coupled with my own irresponsible behavior. Although things are improving, it doesn't make the journey any easier per se. I guess that's why I'm here. To get out of my shell & to reach out. Thank You
Hugs from:

Welcome! Like Trippin said, we're a good supportive group, and believe me, we know what you're going through. Nothing is happening to you that at least one person here can't relate to, so you can rest assured that you are NOT alone.

I'm recently dx'd too, BP-NOS, but I think that's going to change because I'm just now starting to come out of a full-blown manic phase, which will probably kick me into BP 2 or even 1. Not that the designation really matters, because it's all bipolar and I don't like it! It's funny that I'm a registered nurse and know all the stuff I do about diagnoses and medications, but when the patient is ME, I suddenly go stupid, LOL.

I hope you'll come here often, ask questions, and share your own wisdom as you grow more knowledgeable about your illness. It's amazing how quickly we BP'ers are able to learn once we accept our diagnosis (a thing some of us are still working on). Best wishes to you!

Welcome. I hope this site gives you the help and support you need. It's a great bunch of people who are caring, understanding and helpful. Best of luck with your journey. Some tips that have helped me to survive BP:
Tell the truth to your pdoc and T
Take all your meds as directed by your pdoc
Have regular sleeping patterns
Exercise regularly
Write in a journal
Chart your moods
