I broke up with my boyfriend of 4yrs 2 weeks ago. my world revolved around him. The pain is suprisingly getting easier, i guess its because i fell out of love with him long before i ended it. But i do feel that i have lost a best friend, he knew me better than anyone ever has. both me and him have mental illnesses (mine bipolar), and both him and me are sober. I feel like I am alone, I have friends but they go out and party and i cant do that. I dont know how to find people that are like me, I mean I'm 25yrs old and i live my life like a 40yr old, I live a quiet life, and i like it that way. how do i connect with poeple? what will poeple think when they see all the scars on my arms? I'm a lonley old soul that needs a friend who really understands.

My VERY VERY VERY first love was 5 years younger (a huge diff back then), then for some time I had relationships strictly with guys my age, then came a turn of guys older than my parents, then I got married to someone 12 years older and now I am contemplating a relationship with someone who is 14 years older. So I have been everythere when it comes to age difference. Everything is possible. I am sure the same is true of friendships - you can find a caring friend who is 40 and you can share a lifestyle.

Totally agree!!! I have a few friends in their 20's, and, I'm 45. We go out for dinner, movies, whatever sounds good. As far as meeting people, thats kind of a hard one. I met my friends through work.

I'm very similar to you, I've lived my life like I was 40 since I was 15.
![]() It's hard to find people who are similar to me. Most people my age (30) and younger are more active socially and a lot of time that social activity are things I don't want to do. Not that there aren't people who are similar to me, it just seems like the are harder to find, maybe because they are hiding at home like me. ![]() I can't say I have a lot of advice, I basically have 2 friends and I think I am okay with that, but a few more friends wouldn't hurt. I know that. I can just tell you that you aren't alone. |

Coffee houses, book clubs, dinner theater and comedy clubs. Don't worry about the scars I tend to notice that the ones that notice have struggled with it or have some one close to them that have struggled.
