Is anyone else on it. SSRIs, like most with BP, make me hypomanic, but this stuff is blowing my mind for the better, seriously. My thoughts are so organized, I'm very productive, better socially, and I'm enjoying the little things. Wow only 75mg with some depakote is leveling me to a great a place. I even feel creative and highly motivated with in reason, not hypomanic chicken running around with head cut off. I hope his lasts.

That's about how it worked for me when I was on it until I added an SSRI which then brought me back down to earth a bit. I hope to now get back on WB with whatever mood stabilizer my NP ends up thinking is best. My only thing with WB was I had to take in the morning or I'd not be able to sleep at app, but I never felt tired from it.

Glad you found something that works well for you, that always feels good.

Wellbutrin was happy!!! But no sleep without meds (crappish if, you realize sleep isn't just a waste of time) and no appetite... I got sick of not being hungry. Quit smoking for a good time on that stuff too. But lack of appetite was awful!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still I'd take it again if need be. Good luck!

I'm on depakote so it finds middle ground in regards to appetite. As far as no sleep, its been getting better; around 7 hours now, so Im doing well. I've been waiting 7 years to feel like this. The best part is my mood is always fitting the situation.

I'm on 'butrin, and it was initially helpful. It brought my scary, sui depression down to a moderate depression, dropping my Beck Depression Inventory score by 10 points! But it hasn't been a good maintenance drug for me; it allowed me to get very (though not quite as badly) depressed a few months ago.

Everyone reacts differently to it. I personally have had no sleep problems. I also have not had any decrease in appetite related to Wellbutrin. (Ironically enough, I did have a decrease in appetite related to the depression that Wellbutrin didn't prevent and lost eight pounds).

My doctor recently added Lexapro, an SSRI, to my mix. I am starting to finally fully recover from my depression. In fact, I'm starting to feel a bit hypomanic, which is a darn good thing.

I hope that Wellbutrin works better for you than it has for me.

Decreased appetite depression! Interesting. Depression to me is one part eat everything in sight x 10! I think that's what bother me a lot too, when I was ever so mildly depressed over the winter (thanks to wellbutrin, seroquel and lamictal), I wanted to want to eat so bad and sleep. Food and sleep are the only things I enjoy when depressed. But, maybe that was a good thing? LOL!!!
Thanks for this!

Haha! I normally eat more when depressed too. That was just a really weird episode. I've never experienced anything like it before. I must say that, while the depression was miserable, losing 8 pounds without effort was quite nice!! lol

My reaction to Wellbutrin was the first sign that I wasn't 'merely' depressed......it threw me into a horrendous dysphoric mania that turned me into a raging (rhymes with 'itch'). Of course I didn't know that at the time, so when I went back to it after a few months off (having become a pathetic pile of melted custard in the interim) and it happened again, I figured out that maybe.......just maybe.....WB wasn't the med for me. Now it's forever on my allergies list, with the note that "Pt. became manic and psychotic".

I've been on Welbutrin for 2 or 3 years. Like Bipolarnurse, I took it before the BP dx, and it helped lead to the BP dx. But differently for me: It sent me into mania, fun mania. I slept with many men and women and was a party all the time haha. Of course, looking back is like what was I thinking. But anyway, we added lithium. And i'm mostly stable. I like welbutrin, I have attention and focus issues that it helps with as well. But my pdoc says I can only keep taking the welbutrin if I take the lithium as well to keep me from going back into a manic episode.

So anyway, glad you found some things that are working and making you productive! That's good news

If I wasn't on the depakote I'd be in a dysphoric mania. I'm still worried things might get too good still. In sure you all know what I mean.

It worked well when I first started on it (150mg) and knocked me out of a deep depression, but by now it's stopped working.
I've just had it upped to 300mg

I'm on it too, and I love the stuff. For me it works well as a maintenance drug, except in the winter. Then I need an additional a-d to keep me functional. I can only take so much Welbutrin before i go manic, so I have to add a second drug instead.

I've heard it wears off for some people.
