I love my coffee.... It doesn't affect my mood or help me stay awake but I love the taste....

I don't tend to drink enough water or electrolytes...

So for those that drink coffee what is your favorite order? Black, cream, mocha?

I just read that not adding milk or cream makes the coffee better for you.

I love coffee and tea sometimes with sugar and cream sometimes without, I like to mix it up, walking the wild side
Thanks for this!

I used to love a caramel machiato but San gluten an dairy I can a have a vanilla latter now at a few places and use soy instead of dairy. Soy doesn't taste as good in coffee but it's not too bad. Coconut milk is what I use in my coffee at home and that's pretty good.

I read the same thing, many many years ago. I did not bother to inquire back then why because I did not drink coffee at the time. Do you know why?

Something about the cream interacting with the healthy parts in the coffee and invalidating. I read it in Science News.

I like my coffee with cream only except when I go to Dunkin Donuts then its cream and sugar, yum.

That's interesting about black coffee being better. It make sense that the added stuff could take away the pureness of the coffee. I'll still drink mine the way I like it. I can't have everything healthy or it'd be no fun (for me of course).

If you ever watch Dr. Oz and do everything he recommends you'd be broke lol.

I LOVE my coffee. Oodles of sugar and cream. I usually have pepperment patty flavored creamer. The only thing better than chocolate is chocolate w/ a mint twist. I have pepperment patty creamer and chco. caramel in my fridge right now. For breakfast often I will have a banana or RICE CRISPI TREAT w/ peanut butter on top sprinkled w/ chco.chips. Yum yum yum. Pour me another cup. I may have the big "O" before the night is out.
Coffee and big "O's" anyone. Who says you need a man, just chocolate and coffee.

Why is sudafed a nono in bp? I take it all the time, it's the only decongestant my asthma can handle.

There's several types of Sudafed. The red Sudafed that they keep behind the counter makes me hyper.

Well huh. I never realized anyone else had issues with Sudafed. Pseudoephedrine has always made me psychotic and extremely paranoid. I avoid it. I had no idea that taking it could be an issue for other people with bipolar. Hmm. Learned something new...

pdoc has mentioned coming off of it several times.

Recently read in a few places that it can cause problems. Can cause major problems for some.

I don't have a box in front of me, but I think the side effects listed include insomnia and nervousness-or something along those lines.

I'll be back on it likely today-avoid sinus infections. Its the only thing that works.

Wondering-has anyone cut the 12 hour pills in half?

Flonase nasal spray, one spray per nostril in the morning (the prescribed dose being 2 sprays), has eliminated my previously frequent and awful sinus infections. It is steroid, but it is a topical steroid, not a systemic one. It does not affect the whole body. I feel it is worth it.

Thank you Hamster,

I have been on flonase in the past and have started again a couple of weeks ago. It does help the rhinitis part, but does almost nothing for my sinuses. I must be shaped funny because it doesn't seem to get where I really need it to go. I have had no side effects whatsoever and would definitely recommend it.

Have used sinus rinses with some luck.

An odd thing that seems to help me with allergies is cinnamon gum. I can't cut the grass without it.

I am shaped more than funny. There is a thing called "deviated septum" so what I have is even worse - I basically have a crushed septum. I fell on my face hard when I was in elementary school, plus deviated septum runs in my family, so the combination of the two used to spell horrible trouble for me, but not anymore. Why? I am going to shock you a bit, but listen on as you might want to try it. First, Flonase. Second, I do not wash my hands unless I really need to. Sure, after a BM or when preparing food, but not otherwise. I do not wash my hands after leaving a medical clinic (my mom taught me to always wash my hands after seeing a doctor because there are so many sick people with their microbes there), I do not wash my hands after being in a grocery store, nope. And I never, ever use a hand sanitizer. I just expose myself to viruses and bacteria, thereby building up my immunity - there is a hypothesis that it works. I can tell you that this past week, several people at my work have been ill. Some stayed home for days. We all share space, sit in the same meetings etc. Me? I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and a congestion headache, had some tea and saw the symptoms dissipate within two hours. I am totally fine now. I think I caught their bug but had the mildest course of the illness. I should add that I also drink plenty of kefir and eat yogurt with live bacterial cultures and that is supposed to boost your immunity as well. Of course, none of it would help against allergies.

With you on the building up immunity. I do wash my hands constantly, but I always seem to be touching animals and food. Have to get the animals off my hands before i touch my face and have a sneezing fit, though Zyrtec does help the allergies. No hand sanitizer, unless something really nasty is going around, and antibacterial soap I use very rarely.

There was a huge push for a long time to kill every germ imaginable. Science is figuring out that this is not a good thing. I hardly ever get sick from a virus. When I do it is mild and short lived. The sinus and ear infections I can avoid almost completely with keeping the decongestant going.

Deviated septum-sorry to hear that. Headaches, sinus pressure, and just feeling all around yuck. I am lucky I don't have that.

Heck lucky all around-everything works mostly like it should.

Thank you for your electrolyte suggestion earlier-I've put together a list of all the great suggestions from you, Genetic, and Anika. I'l likely have more questions for all of you as I figure out what works best.

Back to coffee-needed it today, should have gone without Thursday.
Thanks for this!

Proud of you, Moose! It takes real discipline to be that close and not enjoy coffee from Starbucks!
