My pdoc recently prescribed this for me. It's an atypical antipsychotic, but I don't know much about it besides that. It's a fairly new drug.

Is anyone else on this drug? How has it worked for you (especially against depression?) I can't find much information about it concerning bipolar; it seems to primarily be used to treat schizophrenia.

My pdoc told me that I am only the 7th person he has had on the drug, so if no one has heard of it, I understand.

I am on fanapt for bipolar 2 and it works really well for me. I feel like it stops my hypomania from getting out of hand. It did not have any side effects for me. I am at 8mg a day.

Thanks Kris! Hypomania has never really been much of a problem for me; at its best it is ecstasy and at its worst it is annoying and agitating. I still appreciate your review though; it sounds like it is a good stabilizer, and decreasing my hypomania would probably slow my cycling.

Does anyone else have experience with this drug? How does it fare against depression?

I took Fanapt for Bipolar I .. I cant say that it really helped me but at least I had no bad side effects from it.... but I was only on it for about 6 weeks ... that was all the samples my Pdoc had and he had called the drug rep numerous times to try and get more samples for me.. I have no insurance so of course no way to afford the medication ... since then I have heard good stuff about the medication. I hope its helpful for you .

The main problem I was having with hypomania was lack of sleep. This med helped me come down from it so I could get some sleep.

None at all, but I have never had any sexual side effects from any of the meds I've been on.
