If there was an organization that actually helped consumers get and maintain employment. The organization could ensure that if a worker got sick, another consumer could fill in for them, and allow that person to keep their job. I think that would launch all involved to better health and lower stress. Why hasn't this been done already?

They are called employment temp agencies.

No, most people who are consumers of mental health services in an area, do not have transportation. you cannot go to a temp agency, and say; "I am below the poverty line, and i have a mental illness, and by the way I need transportation to and from work."

No, a temp agency expects you to come five days a week for as long as you are needed. An individual cannot say, "i would like transportation to and from work, any days I need off sick with another person able to cover for me, year over year." I get the ability to "try working for a while" , I have been there. More is needed so consumers have the option of living below the poverty line, or working.

Also, you're a liability if you cannot work. Most places do not want to pay for long-term healthcare benefits if they are going to be losing a lot of money because you require too much time off work for health bills. It's messed up, but hospitalizations and frequent care does come at a huge cost.

If only the world was a easier place to live in. :\
