I possibly made a new friend ( don't faint guys!! ) I met her at work but she changed jobs shortly after. We managed to meet up for coffee. We talked and laughed and I mentioned getting back to yoga more. She said she really wanted to try it, so I invited her to come with me this afternoon.

Later we were texting and she opened up about depression and low self esteem, she was hoping that yoga would help her with these. She also told me that she is really trying to work on her health and spirituality. That she just started going back to church.

I am excited to have met someone in real life that is very nice and also trying to improve their life with some common goals as me. As I have mentioned here before I have no real friends outside of my sister and bf. And I don't often come by people with similiar interests.
I felt a little worried when she mentioned church and explaining my own spiritual path when she asked as I am not religious, but she seemed accepting of that.

I feel kinda lucky and happy about this. It would be really nice to have another person to share some of life with. I hope she enjoys the yoga today. It's a pretty hard class so I hope she isn't turned off by it. But I am glad to have made a friend.

Thanks guys. I am nervous... Haha. I will try to keep my enthusiasm a little contained so I don't scare her away. Feeling pretty upbeat and hyper today even tho I have only been cleaning my kitchen.

Christina how are you doing today? Wish I could meet you all in real life.

It went really well. It was not was she expected. The ammount of sweat and I think expecting a very releaxing easy kind of yoga. It is relaxing but in a different kind of way, and it is physically hard enough to push you way beyond discomfort..at first. I know people often assume yoga is easy breezy phyaically, I had that idea in my head too. Maybe because it looks easy, painless, and effortless.

There were a few moments where it looked like she was ready to walk out but she pushed through them! Awesome, I had many of those moments and sometimes I did have to leave the room when I became overwhelmed. It can be very emotional as some of the postures like camel push the emotions to the emotions to the forefront. So very proud of her and she really looked suprized and proud of herself too! It's actually really amazing to watch others reach in and find that strength and determination. It's inspiring .

She is going to go back with me again today!! And I feel very excited and lucky to be able to share this with her.

Plus the hot room is pretty alluring when it's -15 outside and shows no signs of warming up. I am so declimatized, I used to be able to handle -30 no problem, but now there is no way I want to live in that climate again!

Hammy, I feel as though we really do get to know each other quite well here. It's really amazing. Makes me all teary.

Christina, there is no way I would pass up meeting if we were blessed with that opportunity. It's weird but I think it would be one of those experiences where you meet someone and feel like you have known them your whole life.

James,

You know I feel the same about you. I know my soul recognizes yours... Yup it stops me in my tracks, but it's always a welcomed safe stop to be at for me.

It's the otherworldly familiarity... Pretty cool.

Sorry Anika I was away for a few days, but just want to cheer you on in taking this chance with a new friend , for being honest with her, and inviting her into your space and healthy yoga together. It is inspiring!

I made a new friend too, accidentally on fb. Her name is Shiloh, such a cool name and uncommon. I thought she was an old friend from school, and we have some mutual friends, so I sent friend request. She wrote back asking how I know her, I realized I didn't know her, but we got to writing back and forth, and now we're going to go hiking together on Friday! We might go to Land of the Medicine Buddha I'm excited and nervous. Already worried what if I flake on her or go depressed that day. I often a avoid making any future plans with people. But she told me that her New Years resolution was to make an effort to make good friends again for herself and her kids. So it's not been easy for her either. I hope I don't go all social anxiety and miss this opportunity to be friends with her. Just need to give this a try right?
