Am I the only geek on here that plays WOW? I find it a great distraction to life, and it really helps me learn to interact with other people too.

Tell us how it enables you to interact with other people, please.
Thanks. Genetic |

Okay..lol. It's an online game, so there is nothing but other players on it. I like dungeons, and in them you have to communicate and work with at least four other players to complete them. So I am forced to talk to other people. plus, the game runs in real time with the other players, so it's just like any other event with other people, where you say 'over here', and you can see where others really go.
There is always side conversations and just talk, so I get to talk to others too, where I would not otherwise get that kind of interaction. People screw around all the time on the game, and a lot of times it's hilarious, so I get to be a part of that too! So all in all, I get to be around others in the safety of my own home. |

I got to lvl 35. My bf has 2 at 8x? But he has stopped playing. It was fun while I played. If I get a job I might pick up guild wars 2.

My son and my nephew-in-law used to play it although I don't think they do so much anymore. Cool game though.

Just be on guard that it does not become an addiction. I've known plenty of people who "forgot" how to interact in the real world because of their addiction to WOW. Meanwhile, have fun.

Yeah, kind of like all technology can become addictions -- including PC

I want to play WOW, like really bad, but I had a bad addiction to an online game called Evony. Yep Hi, my name is "Blue".... I look like a hippy business lady but I was addicted to a war game. It was a war game, and we had alliances and would talk and joke all the time. I had cybersex with these strangers on many occasions. It lasted about 4 years. I havent played in about 4 months I think. But it became an actual "addiction" because I spent thousands (seriously $2-4k) of dollars on it, buying upgrades for weapons and these amulets you could spin and win food and resources to build your army. And I wasted time there when I should've been spending time with my kids, or working, or a million more other more productive things. It ran in real time, so I'd have to be on guard for getting attacked, running bots and have warnings that woke me up, had to keep computer running 24/7.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest... Maybe I can try to get over it now. But it was a harmful addiction for me and many others. If I'm addicted to an online mental health support group that's quite an improvement. ![]() So Dan, I've always wanted to play WOW, would it be a risk to an obsessive type personality like me, do you think? I think Evony is evil thievery. WOW is probably not like that? |

Oh no... you can spend hours and hours on it like I used to. Now I'm half sick of it so I don't do that.... but it too runs in real time and there's always 'one more thing' to get or do! It's not safe for you Blue... I'm really sorry about that
