there aren't that many people that are members. Are there really that many people searching...

that makes me so sad to think about!

I lurked here for a long time before I signed up. Comfort level.. checking if people here were nice, and supportive, because I can be timid and over sensitive. Hopefully if they need support then they will find pc welcoming enough to join our community. But I know what you mean, it's sad that so many are suffering and need help.

I wish they would become members so they didn't have to go at it alone

I think it's like Anika says, sometimes you have to check out a forum before you actually join. Also sometimes I will try to read a thread and can't make sense of it, so I will go back to it again and again until it makes sense. This is especially true of long posts. Sometimes I read but don't have the energy to respond. I'm sure that's true of others, too.

I lurked here for about 2-3 months before joining ..I was worried about the "support" was it real was it fake? That said .. I joined and figured what the hell ..

To be honest tho I have gotten my feelings hurt at times when someone has replied to a thread I started or even a comment I make . I KNOW I should be a duck and let it roll off me but, I am overly sensitive so I tend to overthink things,, like way overthink things.

Do I regret joining? Hell no I have made some friends here that I cant imagine living without.

How do they count views? If I open a thread twice from the same IP and with the same userid, do they count it twice or once?

then it inflates the count of "people" since we re-visit and re-visit threads, so the extent of the problem you have identified is not as large as might seem

I didn't mean it as a problem at all. I was just surprised that so are so many views in comparison to the amount of members. If you look at the bottom of your screen when you scroll down, it says like 10 members and 40 guests online! my heart goes out to those on their quest, searching...

I see what you mean... I joined pretty much once I found it. I was in an episode, so I do not remember much, but I am glad I did.

I visitor for a little while, then I started posting. I was just starting the climb out of major depression with a new t, pdoc, and a diagnosis that had been changed from depression to bipolar II. Now they are reconsidering the dx and changing it to bp I. It seems like all of the symptoms get stronger and stronger. The PC community is the place I can work it all out and know that I am not alone. I hope our posts can help those who are not comfortable joining or posting. Btw, the bp site is my favorite-I feel very close to the posters here. I will occasionally go to the other sites, but I don't always feel comfortable on those others that apply to other parts of me.

Another factor. Members using the invisible setting would also tally in.
I've always wondered about the multiple visits to same thread too.

Semi-related: I'm really glad they have the hover to see the first bit of the post on PC. I feel bad (this is stupid, I know) to add to the views when it turns out the post isn't what I thought from the title (a lot are very vague). But, it's probably related to the misconception that if people don't respond it means they don't care. Speaking for myself, I either don't know what to say or just can't handle replying on account of my own mental state.
Thanks for this!

I am glad this forum is here. Somedays I just look as I do not have much to say but this site does rock.
