Im making an appt. to see a pdoc today. (Yall pat yourselves on da back, woulda NEVER took that step b4 coming here!) But I am concerned about meds affecting my driving. Atm, I take xanax, prn, and I cannot drive on them at all! Well, I can but nobody's safe, esp me! I attend school about an hr drive from home, my husband cannot possibly drive me to and from school not only bc I have classes when he has to be at wk but the gas involved would be astronomical. Are there meds that will not effect my driving ability negatively?

Yes, there definitely are meds that won't affect you this badly. Make sure you discuss this with the pdoc. Also, no xanax for you today if you are going to be ok to drive to the pdoc.
Thanks for this!

this combo of meds i'm on now (i space out some days and forget to take - like today whoops) i am fine to drive on. i have to drive a lot with work and 3 kids - small pickins compared to your 8 lol!!! and they used to call me Fertile Myrtle :P

good for you going to give the doc a try. i don't look at it as some terminal thing that i'll have to do forever. but i do appreciate the meds for now. since i'm not self-medicating with pot and alcohol anymore, and I need to work, and raise kids right now. someday i be lyin on that beach somewhere... healed... needin no meds like when i'm 80 hehe
Thanks for this!

None of my meds have impacted my ability to drive; lamictal, paxil, effexor, clonazepam and previously wellbutrin. The only time I know I was not safe on the road was when I was so severely depressed that my cognition was really slow.
