I know that feeling all too well right now. Just the sound of someone breathing is more than I can stand right now. As soon as I get the chance I'm going to try to find a quite place to just scream until I'm hoarse it normally helps. Maybe the same would work for you.

I say find a good sized stack of paper and give a tribal battle cry as you rip it in half. Or tear all the pages from an old phone book if you have one. Release the rage without harm.

Try going for a walk. Try walking as fast as you possibly can. For 30 mins.

i had this nice standing mirror from childhood. i was convinced it had a bad spirit in it and was making my daughter hurt herself, so i took it outside to my junkyard area smashed the **** out of it, very satisfying... looking back on it, i don't know if i was thinking straight or not... who knows.... anyway,
demo and smashing things can be so satisfying, just gotta take it outside and be safe about it. cheap dishes from goodwill store are nice to take a hammer to. punching pillows never did it for me, for letting the anger out.

my son had a thing for breaking tables, chairs, anything really. he punched up another car windshield last week.
but at one time, our kitchen table was a little tykes play table and chairs lol... till he broke that set.
i once threw away all the dirty dishes in a rage. the kids had been having their friends over partying while i'd be at work, and wouldn't bother even trying to clean up anything. so i just threw dish after dish after dish into the trash, smash smash shash. it needed to happen.
yea it happens.

HB,

I'm sorry you have bad news

And yes, exercise helps frustration a lot. Maybe try a yoga DVD.

I do not have bad news yet - I expect bad news. A potential employer has taken forever to decide between me and another person, the two finalists. I think that they would have given me an offer by now if I were their choice. Their not saying anything until the end of the week probably means bad news. I will know tomorrow for sure.

I did a lot of walking today! And on a trail, I saw a whole bunch of bicyclists. That gave me an idea: for frustration, going on a long bicycle ride is probably as good as walking! Do you have a bike, Clinte?

Someone told me once to take ice cubes and throw them at the wall in the shower. Makes lots of noise. Can't break a shower wall. And the ice cubes break like glass. Never tried it, but it always sounded like a decent, harmless way to get out anger.

Oh, and no mess to clean up after either.
Thanks for this!

I shoot hoops. I am not a basketball player, nor do I play one on tv, but it gets some of that toxic energy out. Maybe could put a hoop up in driveway or somewhere outside if you have a place.

Same goes for just hitting a tennis ball against an outdoor wall or running- doing something physical, but non destructive seems to help.

And really crazy loud and angry music is another great thing.
