I told my husband the plan that I made to commit suicide during my last really bad depressive stage. I had kept it to myself even when I got past feeling suicidal and I realized today that by holding on to it, I was protecting it and could use it if I get to that place again emotionally. I felt by telling him not only how I had planned to do it but where that I was removing the bullets from my proverbial gun. Now, should I ever be in that state of mind I know he knows exactly where to find me to keep me from doing it.

I'm glad you have the trust in your husband to let him support you when you need it.

Ty, M's Mom. I am really blessed to be married to my husband. He is a 100% "normie" and he takes care of me, babys me and cleans up all my little bipolar messes and still, somehow, manages to love me! He is such a strong person and could so easily find a woman that doesn't have my issues and problems but he stands by me as if he owns the disorder the same as I do.

I'm glad you were able to share this with him too. I think it's pretty important for someone that close to us to really know what's going on with us, especially when it comes to this. That took a lot of courage, but you did it!

I know from my own past that this isn't an easy one to open up about especially to those close to us. I remember having to talk about sui the first time to a pdoc, I couldn't even say the word, just kind used sign language kinda motions with him, yeah I couldn't talk about it.

Glad you did this, hopefully that will keep the door open if you need to talk to him about this in the future.

wow, that is a really big step. I don't think I could ever share that with my wife, ever! I would be so scared of her reaction. You deserve a gold star for courage!
