Today is my family's reunion dinner. I have a wonderful relationship with "my" family- my husband, kids, dils and grandson but my extended family are back-biting, judgemental, two-faced and I am the UNDISPUTED black sheep. I act "stoned" on xanax and I am afraid to take one b4 going but I know this is going to be so hard on me emotionally- but if I medicate- then all them snooty ppl I am related to will be talking forever!

Stay away from them, MommaR, or cut your Xanax in half if permissible. These types of folks MUST have someone to look down on in an effort to pick themselves up out of their bottomless pit. No one deserves to be around that.
Try to remember that when people speak about others they are revealing more of themselves than they are about the person whom they are criticizing. So when you see that, think to yourself: "so that's what your problem is" and let it go. If you're living by your deepest principles you have no need to be concerned about what they are thinking or saying. You will be fine. Time will eventually catch up with their behavior and other family members will inform them of their anti-social conduct if you find that difficult. (I do.) Just avoiding them is the simplest solution, IMHO. Never let their behavior interfere with your enjoying the company of the healthy ones. Genetic |
