Bipolar is a lot more than being happy and then sad or happy and then angry. Although it is called a "mood" disorder, the moods are more a symptom than the actual illness. There's a lot more to it.

Have you taken the mania and depression quizzes here at psych central? They are not diagnostic but if you get a high score you will then have guidance on what to ask a doctor. Only a psychiatrist can diagnose you.

A good place to start would be to look up bipolar and see if it really reflects what is going on in your life. It is a lot more than feeling happy one minute and sad the next, that's actually a big misunderstanding about bipolar, like Darkheart said. Also there is criteria for each mood phase and you can see if that applies to you or not.

Maybe you can share some more with us about what you are going through, and we can try to help you best we can.

I hope for your sake that it is situational and not a mental illness. I would not wish this on anyone.
