I have always taken an antidepressant with lamictal as a mood stabilizer and it has worked well. I've been doing this for about fifteen years and have had to change my other meds on a few occasions, so a change in meds is not that strange, but not taking my normal meds is. What happened is my docs had to change my pain meds. They gave me Gabapentin, or Neurontin, which is supposed to be an effective med for bp. Does anyone know anything about this. I have been moody since the hospital, but it could just be nerves. I am scared of getting back in that space and I think I am being overly vigilant.

I was on gabapentin for awhile, mainly to help with sleep. It did help, and I had no side effects from it.

I went from Lyrica to Gabapentin for my fybro. It works ok, not as well as lyrica tho. Lyrica caused weight gain and Neurontin didnt. What pain med were you on before?

Oxi. I'm most concerned with GBN as an anti-depressant. So far, it works wonders for pain. It even stopped the constant spasming in my legs that I have put up with for years. I'm thrilled with it. Thanks!

Thanks. That is very comforting to know. Use wheelchair, so weight is a major concern to me.

It was prescribed for me to reduce anxiety. It sort of does. I still depend on a tricyclic (Nortriptyline) as my main med for depression.
I do find that gabapentin helps a lot with discomfort/pain/muscle spasm that I get in my neck due to arthritis there. That was just kind of a happy coincidence. Recently, a friend of mine who had fusion of vertebrae in his neck was prescribed gabapentin to help his pain. It seems to cause a kind of "spacey feeling" that makes me feel kind of more relaxed. But I am still having serious cycling, so I'm not that impressed with it. |
