So I started the new job. It sucks soo bad! There has been an assistant standing over me the whole time saying do this, do that, hand this, hand that. UGHHH that is not how I learn!! I learn by jumping in and figuring it out as I go along. Her standing over me is making me nervous and she frazzles me so I make mistakes.
I was going to sign a year lease for a place that is further away then most assistant jobs are and it just hasn't been feeling right Boy am I glad that I did!!! Even tho they said in the interview that they would cut hours across the board if it ever happened that was not the case today.
I'm upset I was lied to in the interview, I am annoyed that I am not feeling comfortable to get down my own routine and I just want an office that is going to be long term and easy to get along!!! Pretty much know to take what I can get and start looking elsewhere. So annoyed and honestly pissed that I am not being very successful in the position I went to school for...

You can't tell said assistant to leave you be? That you need to do things on your own in order to suceed?

Depending on who this person is, your success may not matter to you. Figure out what her motivations are and use them to your advantage.

All people can be manipulated or as they say in business lead and if they're simplely stubborn, there are people of influence, get her fired or transferred!

I feel your pain, mmd! I'll have someone looking over my shoulder and disrupting my class all day today. Unfortunately, I'm not good at hiding my feelings, so I'm sure she will be getting some darts from me.
Good luck, go for the manipulation as cocoabeans said!

Well maybe it'll get better, maybe once she feels your 'trained' you will be left alone to get your own routine down. Just a thought hang in there mmd.

Can you tell that assistant's manager that the learning style that has been proven effective for you is "learning by doing"?
