This weekend I was watching t.v. with my mother-in-law. We were sitting their discussing our bipolar and symptoms and stuff.

anyway, we were wating a show on the on Demand that had been on thursday (it was Friday.) Anyway, so this is a very popular show, the Big Bang Theory. (That's important because, lots of people watch that show.)

Okay, so the on-demand plays commercials. A commercial came on and it was from the local t.v. network, one of those "the more you know" type of things....

And... it was all about bipolar awareness!

It went over not only the symptoms, but how it can effect relationships, school and work. It talked about how it's important for family members and friends to be a support system for their loved one. It discussed how medications can help, but unfortunatley it can take time. And it discussed how sometimes people with bipolar need disability. It went over how the support of friends and family and community is important to care for peole who need it, even if it isn't something you can see on the outside.... I mean, it was really good! And it even said how there is stigma and that if you have a loved one with bipolar that learning and researching with help you support them.

We both sat there in shock! It was totally unexpected and I just had to share it here that my local news chanel did a real awareness commercial about bipolar.

That is awesome, hopefully it starts circulating everywhere that would be great. I hate the stigma that our disease has. People are actually scared of us. I mean wow, its just really crazy the things that people think. I really hope our illness starts getting more awareness. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
