What magic those little pills can do! I know that some of you do well without any mood stabilizers or anti-depressants, but not me. After talking to the pdoc yesterday, she had me raise the amount of my ad, zoloft, and I feel so much better today!
Can you imagine? No whining from Bluemountains (I hear you all cheering!) I took klonopin to work with me just in case, but I didn't need it. And it was a beautiful, warm and sunny day here. Life is good today. I'm going to take my children who are left (those not out on a Friday evening) out for Mexican food, yum.

That is wonderful! If upping the AD allows to release you from dependency on benzos, that is a great outcome.
Thanks for this!

Good observation, Hamster. I didn't realize I had made so many comments lately about my overuse of benzos. I will see the pdoc in person on Monday. I hope when I go in I am back to my regular dose. After the past few weeks, and the number of times we have had phone conversations I want to be a bit more positive when I see her.

I am glad you are feeling better BlueM!! Very good news. And yes if it helps cut the benzoz down that is also a plus. I hope you have many more days of the same.

Only thing is tho, I have never thought of you as whiner! Don't think anyone here does either, better take that one off your list of qualities ...

Love the title. I have to agree. So would my family after seeing me without meds.

Glad you are doing well!

After I posted, EJ, I thought "oops, maybe I should have said meds," My husband is very happy when I get the meds adjusted after a bad spell. It is such an ongoing process. up, down, either back up or med changes.

Nah, I think it is good to have a sense of humor about these things. I often phrase it the same way.

You can say THAT again! Do people's med regimens ever get settled for any length of time, I wonder?

Glad to hear your cheerful tone, Blue. You deserve some happiness after what you've been through

I was thinking about that, too. Do people's med regimens ever get settled? I am trying to amass some data, and what seems to emerge is the following:

Lithium, if it works, will work. You have to monitor for toxicity, etc., but if it works now, it will work in the future.

APs, same way.

Benzos can and do give out. It is better not to depend on them.

AD's can poop out. I am hopeful that my Prozac won't, because what it is doing is a sheer miracle, and at such a low dose!

I agree with all of your observations, HB. Yesterday I was with the pdoc and commented that I knew the pattern-a few good months then adjustments, and she agreed. When lithium has been suggested for me, I have declined because the long list of side effects makes me uncomfortable. Plus, I guess it's an unfounded personal issue. My father took lithium.

Prozac did poop out for me, but fortunately zoloft has taken its place. I fear that the same will eventually happen, though, because this is the second time I have upped the dose.

I've been on Lamictal and Geodon for 2 years now. The only thing that has changed is that my pdoc added Tegretol in June.

I am starting to love my drugs too! as I have upped my lamictal I see a difference in myself. W/ what I have been thru since sat. BL (before Lamictal) I would prolly be locked up right beside Faith. Or worse, I have thought about it and I know it would have been completely feasible b4 I had meds to control my anger-oriented mania, I might have hurt her severely when I foudn out what she did...

When I first went on lamictal I loved it! It took a while to get the dosage straight because that great feeling would wear off after a week or so, but finally I believe my dosage is right. I thought maybe instead of upping the zoloft, the pdoc might up the lamictal (at 200 mg now), but she made the right call because I felt so much better right away.
