I'm bipolar 2 but I have had fits of uncontrollable anger from as young as 8. My diagnosis answered tons of questions. I 've always been very generous and loving but it was always like a very dark side to me. I have attacked several people over the years and It was like I could feel the rush going to my head with no stopping it

depokote 1750mg
Risperdol 1 mg
ambien 10 mg

I hate to say it... but yes I think so...

The difference you must always remember is that you know right from wrong and you regret what you do, this is how you will overcome these violent tendencies. This is just my opinion, I'm sorry you're going through it.

There is help, there is "stopping it", with the help and support out there, including groups like us.

only speaking for myself here.

yes I can be violent and have been...

my worst acts of violence have been directed at myself as I have 'matured'

....I don't think I've ever referred to myself as 'maturing'...but it's the truth. As a younger man I was fully out of control.

I was just experiencing life and runnin' with it...whatever it was. I didn't even know I had an illness.

Nothing provokes me as much as arrogance, and I don't deal with it well except to
say something unkind like "move the #$%#$ car; you're all over the place with your vehicle". (This after a driver almost ran me off the road and thought to blame me for her behavior; now that's provoking!)

Yes, I have a hot temper but generally keep a watch on it. Only situations that cause sudden fright or real danger trigger it.

My son is bipolar and he has what I call manic rages. He will be fine one minute and then he will flip. He will either attack people or tear the house up. He has been doing this since he was about 9 years old. Most of his criminal record is about his anger and violence. He has even went to prison for fighting, terroristic threats and having a gun. We have had him in anger management 4 different times, it doe not work.

Genetic - nice to see you! I cannot picture you angry, ever.

LostMom - there's got to be something we can do to change our sons' manic rages. I think if my son would realize he does have bp, like realize he is often a danger to himself and others, and just take the dang meds we could avoid a lot of this violence. we have court again on Tues. I was never as violent as he is, but I've overcome a lot of anger/rage problems.

Thanks for this!

I can be very violent luckily I've always used sex instead of fighting. I also MMA, and "play" fight with my dog or husband. I also am really destructive and like the idea of burning the house down and the sound of broken glass. I'm liable to hurt myself for sensation either accidently or purposely. I've luckily never been in legal trouble. My husband use to fight all the time and enjoyed picking fights that he knew (looking back) he'd lose. luckily he was never shot.

If I get really Angry rage like or just overwhelmed emotionally I turn it all in to myself and usually self harm. I have never gone off on anyone.
