I was so happy earlier until I "had" to go somewhere. I tried to think a head to prevent triggers. I got there early and asked the information desk to please arrange my accommodation. Someone came and spoke with me and assured me my accommodation was not a problem. Needless to say my accommodation was not completed correctly. I was put in a loud and crowded environment.
I did my best to hold it together and not get up and walk out. I said very little because my triggers were in overdrive. I was left only with the ability to have self talk w/ myself. I concentrated on breathing. When it was all over the advocate kicked in, in me. I immediately found out who I could make a formal compliant with. I filed a compliant ten minutes later.

I didn't really know we could ask for accomodations as adults... you don't have to detail obviously, but I'm curious. I'm well familiar with IEP's and accomodations for my children in school, all 3 of them have learning differentials and/or mood disorder.

A compliant coordinator is suppose to contact me. What's surprising is i was at a courthouse you would think they know how to provide reasonable accommodations.

Oh yes adults can too. I was very luck and learned a lot of info before my BP onset. I did an internship in college and worked with Americans With Disabilities Act. I learned so much about accommodations. Reasonable accommodations can be requested and must be completed. In my case i had a stupid person that half did their job. i had requested the same accommodation a week prior and had no problem. My triggers were going off like rockets on the forth of July.
