Ok, so now that it's publicly painfully obvious that I am struggling in life.. yup again.

I again see areas to change, grow, learn, more to accept, expand, contract in all the right places. And I do often catch myself thinking " Didn't we just get off this Growing Pains episode, wasn't Facts Of Life done airing in 1988, are we there yet?"

And just as it is time to tune that bit out it's time to tune into A Different World, while trying to keep up with Quantum Leap. Thankfully the Rags to Riches, Wonder Years, Family Ties and, 21 Jump Street are behind me. And some like Degrassi, Murder She Wrote, and Silver Spoons I never had to live through.

There will still be Empty Nest, And oh boy Golden Girls in the future.

It never stops. Even when I feel like yay! I am done, rest time!! Because you just enter the next season of growing. And instead of getting my self all bent out.. "oh here we go again, I am tired of this growing, and changing stuff !!" I think I will accept that it's a continuous flow, there are not really any stopping or end points. I can get excited about it instead.. " Oh wow look .. Life Goes On, and My Secret Identity are both on, cool!! " « split screen » "Let's dig into that noise!!"

So I am gonna do it, I am gonna get excited about "What's Happening" and stop trying to watch reruns of "Gimme a break". I guess you could probably just put Nip Tuck on and skip the rest, seems too easy tho. Just going to try my best to make it a way to be, being excited about the work that doesn't end.

Sorry younger viewing audience .. I may have lost you with this. Diggity Dog.. I am dating myself with this ...I'll accept that too.

I'll spare you all the details of Harriet's Magic Hats, Littlest Hobo, and 100 Huntley Street. Hey I was actually on that one for real..

Now is always a Prime Time Slot..
I try to be objective about it ... Move away and look at things without the personal, emotional involvement ...,
and it doesn't help a bit. Sooner or later I have to come smashing crashing back to earth ...

and everything is same as it was.

Hi, Anika. I'm several years down the road for you, but my body is simply falling apart in parts. It ain't pretty. As Bette Davis said, "Getting old ain't for sissies."

I'm glad we've got a sense of humor, it will keep us somewhat sane & that's quite necessary. We've got each other, too, and some other stalwarts at PsychCentral. I am ALWAYS here for you.

Roadie

HAHAHA! You just walked me thru my life You are so witty and I love reading your posts!

All the shows oh hell ok Im feeling a tad old , anyway I won't dwell on that right now.

I think of myself as a plant, yes a plant. Plants are always moving, they are always lean towards the sun, sometimes the rain batters a plant to the ground, the plant reaches towards the sun, etc

I'm going to be a plant

Christina, I've kept a lumpy old house plant of my mom's going since she died in 1991. Everyone said I should toss it, that it hadn't a prayer ... Well, it's not the most gorgeous plant in town, but it's plenty respectable for 21!

...

very cool post and a fun approach Anika.

I remember those tele shows too!...hehe. do you remember Monkey Magic,
that was my favourite...with pigsy and sandy and tribitaka the boy priest that really I think was a girl?

your mind is very unique here as a "viewer" what you have written.

I'm so pooped I can't really write much else...but I'm still too wired up to sleep just yet...

No ... had to look it up , looks pretty good James, I read a bit on it too interesting story. I would watch that, I am gonna see what I can find.

I don't think it aired in Canada tho... there is a lot of stuff we did not get. And then some of our own, the last three shows I mentioned... canadian tv stays in canada I think.. if you saw it you'd know why.

The theme song to this one left me in tears at the end of every show.. eventually my mother wouldn't let me watch it anymore.. who knew I was gonna be a hobo ..

Thanks James..

He was cool, I wanted to bring him home so bad.. like everyone.. I now realize he was not lost at all.

OMG I need to sleep. But the sun is out, and blue skies, in November.. that's some kind of treasure here. I can't be sleeping when I need to be getting dressed and get out.

Love the TV show usage, its brilliant! I was so young when most of those aired, but apparantly my memory is more mega than I thought! Love your approach to the growing pains, and dont forget, your sister from another mister is right by your side

I remember most of those shows.... maybe only as reruns.

I say as long as it doesn't turn out like The Walking Dead, we're not doing too badly....

Very cute Anika.

Most of those shows were running during my years of not watching tv - the going out all the time years but I do remember watching Facts of life as a kid.
The Golden Girls on re-runs- love Betty White!
Nip tuck ...is that still on?

How creative, Anika! You brought back some great tv memories. Those shows date me, too, and I saw many first runs, not reruns of these shows.
