When I talk, very often I insert the wrong words into my statements. I correct myself immediately, but it happens enough to be really irritating for me. An example would be like this evening when I told my son not to eat his spaghetti with his fork, I meant his fingers!

Here is the list of drugs I take: lamictal, zoloft, wellbutrin, and klonopin. I also take other drugs for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and hypothyroidism.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Or maybe it's just being 51 yrs. old.

I'm 46, and I do that all the time the past couple of years. I'm currently med-free, so I just tell my wife that she heard me wrong. lol
Thanks for this!

I can only tell you that Lamical and Klonopin (which I took in the past) should not be giving you that. I do not know about other drugs.

I've just lost my first word - for ten minutes I could not come up with the simple word "refuse" - but at least I know why - it is from Topamax.

I've noticed that I use wrong words when my head is busy or buzzy... Yesterday I told the kitten to stop being such a naughty dog bear cat pig cat! Also, I want to use the wrong objects, like trying to light my cigarette with a pen or tying up my hair with a cigarette lighter! Jordan thinks its a hoot! I dont get away with 'you heard wrong' Also, I will read words that aren't there,or join 3 words, its nonsense! Definitly mood related for me tho, think my hypomania has gotten weirder than I thought...
Thanks for this!

Okay, so is it just our population, or is it everyone? Maybe I feel sensitive because I have fifth graders calling me out all of the time when I make word choice mistakes, and then I get home and my children do the same. At least I am not alone with my constant verbal miscues!

Seen it happen to normies, but not to the degree I experience. They will say 1 wrong word today, I will spew nonsense for atleast a weak... And, laughter and headshaking that ensues is clue enough that its stranger than the usual Jordan had a good laugh when I KEPT calling her headband an umbrella

This happens to me on a regular basis! I'm always misplacing my words (I once used the phrase "pheletone targer" instead of "telephone charger" before!), stuttering when I can't find the right one, & feeling pressured to just "insert" a word into the sentence even though it makes no sense... And often, I'll also look at words in text & feel that they don't look right. This USUALLY happens when my mood is going haywire or when I have what I think are seizures.

Ur definitely not alone. I also attest to being a victim of wrong spoken words. Like another person mentioned when reading I add words that are not there. It's not ur age....I'm 36. I hate that ur being corrected by kids but know ur not alone

Sorry there are so many of us with problems getting the right words out. I'm glad I'm not alone, though. I considered asking my pdoc, but she's about 12 (or looks that age, anyway) so I doubt she would get my frustration. Plus I am sure that I am ancient in her eyes!

yeah, I do that too... the using wrong words... but it's even a different word cathegory. So I do sound totally like Tristan Tzara sometimes.

or I code-mix horribly.

This describes me to a "T". I thought it was because I'm almost 54, but my pdoc said I don't have dementia, so it's gotta be related to the BP and/or meds. Definitely have slipped a cog or two in the past couple of years......and I hate it, it's embarrassing and younger people DO NOT get it.

Well, I'm just turning 21. So I don't think age has anything to do with it! Nothing to feel insecure about.
