I didnt get much sleep last night and got up and had to work today. Dont like dealing with people but i managed. Then got lost on my way home because my exit off the highway was closed from a semi accident and took an extra 15 mins to make it home from my normal drive. I walk in the door to find my house wrecked. No one broke in...i think my cat did it. I had a ehelf just put up on the wall, put up some glass decor on it of my fiances and it was all broke alone with a few side tables knocked over from what looks to be a domino affect from the cat trying to jump onto the shelf. Ive since cleaned it all up and now just want to cry. I feel like its my fault when clearly i know its not. The glass things belong to my fiance and he hasnt seen it yet but will when he gets off work. I am a wreck wondering his reaction knowing those glass items were his. I feel as though since i was the one who asked for the shelf up and decided what went there that im to blame for things getting broke. How am i supposed to not feel like that?

You first remind yourself that you do not control the actions of your cat when you are not home. Cats are shelf jumpers. The higher they can get, the happier they are.If you have the money, buy a climbing pole with a very high shelf, and the cat will be less likely to try and jump on your shelf. Hopefully. You can get climbing poles that go all the way to your ceiling. This is what I used to keep mine from climbing the drapes.

Second, you did not do this on purpose, nor was it meant to be a mean thing to your fiance. You were actually honoring him, by making space and putting his things out.

Even a good thing can sometimes turn out bad, but it's not your fault. And when your fiance gets home, he may get upset because his things were broken. That's a natural response to something lost. Just remind him to yell at the cat, not you. You did nothing wrong.

Thank you buggsbunny everything turned out alright. He was upset when entering the house and seeing the few things broken but didnt take it out on me. I guess i have a tendancy to expect the worst as i really felt like it was my fault. I will look into getting a cat pole as i used to have one but during a recent move had to get rid of it. Now being settled its something i may have to invest in again. Thanks for helping me as i was having a rough day yesterday. Im hoping todays better and i hope you have a great day too. God bless
