I have to say its going better than i thought..as i was afraid i wouldnt wake up. (darn paranoia) I definitly feel drugged. Im sick to my stomache and have no apetite with a slight headache but other than that i feel alright. Just a bit slow lol. I hope the sickness subsides soon and all keeps going well..only time will tell though. I really dislike having to go through med changes as ive been on so many that i feel like the meds that didnt work only made the chemicals in my brain even more messed up. Anyone else ever feel like that? Or is it just me.

No I feel ya I have been on a good bit of different ones and got real cynical about meds. The side effects should pass soon so hang in there.

Hope you're feeling better. I started on depakote er (again) a week or so ago in addition to paxil and klonopin, and had bad stomach problems at first. Somewhat better now. I'd rather be on lithium but i gained too much weight on it last time. Lamictal and seroquel is next if the depakote doesn't work well enough.
Thanks for this!

Hopefully the initial side effects will soon taper off. Med changes are just a pain in the ***. Maybe this medication will be one that really works for you.

Stay positive

Thanks you all so much. I really love this site as ive never had anyone who understood me before or what ive been going through my whole life in battling through med changes and highs and lows of my bipolar. I feel alot better today but tomorrow i may be back to feeling crappy as i take my second dose tonight before bed. I started the new med on a night time schedule so i could sleep through the worst side affects of it. I felt like i had been drugged all day yesterday and was super slow. I tried driving to the store(cant say tried as i did go lol) but it was an awful expierence and i wont make that mistake again. It was rainy outside and i was hydrplaining and it was just freaky..not to mention i was all floaty in my head and my legs and right arm felt like they were numb halfway through the trip. But i made it home safely and wont be driving again until i get used to this new med.

Thanks clinte for your kind words Im really glad im getting to know everyone here and how helpful its been to me.

I agree with ya Morethingswrong that med changes are a pain in the ***. Ive had to go through so many. I am definitly doing my best to stay positive as I sure hope its the med for me Thanks again.

Lancer8, i hope the meds work out for you so you dont have to go through another change. I was on lithium years ago and liked how it made me feel at first but it was toxic or something to my body(and i was on the lowest dose of it) within 15 mins of taking it i was throwing up and felt super drunk like seeing double and couldnt walk straight. My family would laugh and tease about my slurring speech and me not making sense when i tried putting a full sentence together. It wasnt long after i drove while taking it, having no other choice to because of work and almost wrecked my car, that i had to stop the lithium. At that time i too switched to serequel(xr). I dont take it anymore though as it just wasnt for me. Anyways i think ive rambeled on enough lol.
