my p-doc took me off risperdal which was starting to work wonderfully and put me on seroquel(which i'd been on before) bc one of my problems is restlessness and he says risperdal can increase it. Seroquel was a disaster last time I took it bc of the zombified effects. I told him this but he still insisted on getting back on. I started my 1st night last night with 50 mg and already feel zombified today

Then ask your p-doc for Cogentin and drop Seroquel and go back to Risperdal with Cogentin as an antidote.
Thanks for this!

I have been in seroquel zombie land for 7 years. That is until two nights ago when finally weened off it.
I hate hate Seroquel. I gained so much weight, which gave me high blood pressure. I don't even know who I am anymore.

Unfortunately, I have tried almost all the atypical anti psychotics and could not tolerate them, mostly because of akathesia that terrible restless feeling.

I haven't talked to my PDOC in a while, he doesn't now I am off the seroquel. He won't be happy. But I don't care I want some kind of life back and I am going to finally start losing weight. The risk of diabetes with Seroquel also scares me.

I have to say I love my seroquel I could not sleep without it. It takes a lot of drugs to sedate me.

I was on Seroquel initially because my Pdoc wanted to get me to sleep again. I took it later in the day and was a zombie as well but definitely helped sleep at night. She ended up increasing the dose and taking it twice a day so it was nothing to pass out for a three hour nap in the afternoon. Like, no choice, you're going to sleep, type of nap! Eventually I came out of the depression cycle and decided to ditch psych treatment. About two days later it must have cleared from my system because my brain exploded with activity. Like, literally thinking five thoughts at the same time and seeming to be on fast forward. I experienced a short term manic episode too. Unfortunately I didn't stay "normal" for long and ended up in a depression cycle again and refilled the prescription. I'm going back to the Pdoc to see what she says regarding about adding an SSRI to the mix and just taking Seroquel at night before bed. Best of luck as you work on your meds!

Can you ask for the extended release (XR) version? It is hardly sedating and it is much easier to function on it. I am much more stable on it vs. the regular Seroquel.

I very much like my seroquil.. I didn't think it made me feel zombified until I missed a dose about a month ago. I was hypomanic for a day and felt so clear and productive. Most of the time I spend a lot of time on the computer or watching tv letting my house get dirtier and dirtier. I got the house cleaned and all the Christmas presents wrapped.. so maybe the seroquil is making me somewhat zombified. All I know is it makes me stable. I like being stable.

I take 25mg in the AM and 200mg in the evening. What do you think the purpose of this is?

Suga, I do not know - why did not explain it to you at the hospital (if that is where it was prescribed for you)?
