Food?
My last real meal was New yrs day I'm majorly stressed, stomach is knotty and nauseated 24/7. I've been getting by on 2 slices of buttered toast and black rooibos tea A DAY, and I'm up and about 19 HRS a day... I AM STARVING AND FEEL LIKE I'M ABOUT TO KEEL OVER! Tried crackers, 'boring' food, shakes, I can't swallow anything past a few bites... Its getting to me, and no, I cannot afford a dr atm, healthcare budget is blown till 1st week of Feb

Yikes. I don't know a thing about eating disorders but I would say start by having more buttered toast? Someone here mentioned marijauna can be used for weight gain, it might make you hungry, maybe that would be a good idea.

Thats the thing though, I dont have a ED, just cant ingest anything under stress even when I am hungry... Like now, I could eat a horse, but my stomach shrivels up and wont allow me to Marijuana will only intensify my already intense hunger... I cant handle munchies ontop of this. Thanks for responding tho

I am not sure what is available in your area but around here an emergency room cannot turn you away because you cannot pay. This is definitely an emergency situation.

I have that same problem, sis. When I'm over stressed my appitite goes out the window. Swallowing food makes me feel sick. Yup, I have that exactly.

I suggest that you make broth. Make sure it has a protein in it like chicken and veggies. You will at least be getting some nutriants that soaked into the water. Drink it with your toast if you can. Jordan and your mom can eat the other parts fo the soup if you can't eat it.

Tripping, how about tomato or a vegetable blend juice or milk? I find drinking is eassier than eating.

Sis, you're a genius! Im almost home, will make me some broth. Not a cullinary whizz but I'm sure mum could help me out. I honestly think I'm on the verge of fainting, but eat I cannot, no matter the texture or flavour. Doxie mom, over here emergencies mean bleeding from the head or heart attack, so they wouldn't even see me if I went

Milk now makes me want to up-chuck and juices I can only handle in tiny quantities...

Broth is easy to make. I am a terrible cook. It makes little sense to me. You just put whatever you want into the pan with water. Season it if you want and how you want. Then just let it cook slowly. I'm sure your mom will know.

Since you feel faint, have some toast ASAP when you get home. Can you drink water? Try to drink some water.

Broth is a great idea.

Thing is Trippin you would likely survive a long time on bread and butter. But you are already a tiny woman. You will quickly develop deficits of minerals, nutrients and vitamins, which are not always easy to correct. You can start having hypoglycemic episodes, fainting, muscle wasting, heart shrinkage.. heart attack. You are not eating, but your body is.. it's just draining all your resources. And yes water, or some type of electrolites. Gateraide.. coconut water?

I totally know how that feels to be hungry and not able to get the food down. And I have a lot of experience with complications from starvation. It's scary stuff. Try the broth like DH suggested. If you have to force it you have to. Even just little bits, which I know seems impossible.

What can you do to ease some of the stress and what sounds like anxiety.. the knots in the stomach? The root of the problem.. Is there anything you can do to calm yourself a bit? At least enough that maybe you can eat a little.

Worried about you, please be careful sis!

Gen, I made the broth like DHX suggested, left some noodles in it too, so now I'm slowly trying to finish it.

Good, Trippin. Keep in touch and let us know how you get along in the next few days with this.

Hope you continue to improve.

I don't know if you could tolerate it, but I've been told that gingerale is a good
stomach remedy. It doesn't sound appealing to me, though, even at this moment!

Sorry to hear of the troubles Trippin, I hope you can get down some food soon. You need to at least try every few hours to get something down. Best of luck.

Yup I know how it is..

Maybe just a way to purge some of those nasty feelings from the stomach so it can be nourished.

I am glad the broth is working, good job. Hey we can even call it soup now that you left some noodles in it! Glad you told us too. I have never been able to eat when I am really stressed or anxious. Just make sure you keep trying.. it will come. Don't want you to get sick!

I'm sorry Trippin because I have been so absent, but what was it that your dr gave you...citalopram ? Did you start taking it ?

HeyJamesy life just seems to get in my face sometimes...Venus I will give that sparkling fruit a try. Anika Citalopram was given to help me relax and thus hopefully calm down the fibro flare ups. I tried taking it with the ethipramine as per dr's orders, but its way too sedating to take in AM and too scared to take PM for fear I wake up tired bcoz I already dont want to be at work... So I just discontinued. Dont worry about being scarce, you've got lots on your plate yourself

I know it gets in your face Lia

I want you to be alright....not ok ...but alright

I don't expect I know of another who is such a fighter

...and I know this crap will pass you by and I believe it hurts

until then

and all that works is comfort

I love you little mate

in the meantime it's like there's just one star out there beyond the sky we live inside and it's only yours...

...and it's a free ticket to get there...

How long do you think I can survive without

Trippin, I am glad the broth is working for you. I know you have stress that you just can't get away from. I can never eat when I am a big ole mess of stress. My Pain is so ridiculous right now I can't get any food down myself.

Please just keep trying

Trippin, a guy at my work goes through fasts when he eats no solid food at all, just broth. His fasts last weeks and weeks and he is able to work full time. Definitely not the right way to live one's life by choice, but he manages to survive.

Do try to drink as much fluid as you can. Your body needs fluids more than food. Preferably fluids that have some nutrients if you can handle them. Have you tried taking an antiemetic?

I had a panini roll, cheese, peppers, onion and tomatoe inside, bit on the heavy side, but atleast my lunch stayed down Wont be having supper tho, just thought I'd share the good news with you wonderful peeps
