Do you ever need to sit quietly? Do you turn off the lights and curl up in the corner of the sofa? Do you sit there with no TV? Do you just listen to the silence?

I do. Sometimes. There is too much going on in the house. There are too many things going on. My life is crazy. I sit. I try to not think. I listen to silence.

I do. And I get it every time I get to the treestand an hour before daylight, not because it might help me get a deer, but because I get to sit there in total darkness and silence and let nature take me away.

I do it in my room just turn off the lights and lay there. Kinda like meditation if you think about.

YES.

Definitely my go-to coping mechanism when I am anxious or depressed.

I do this out in nature. I listen to the wind, the trees, the animals.....the silence of no civilization. I do the same when I'm on the water.

Yes, I am bipolar schizaphrenic, Mother, wife and poet. At least that is what my husband calls me. I love to write and I love the Lord. Lots of times I am thankful for peace and Yes I too, sit sometimes in a wealth of silence because it give me celestial peace from God. T. V. is okay sometimes. Computer good. Love forever and always good. Love, Little Moma

I try to, although it often doesn't work out.
I.e., I know it would be better for me to just sit still and wait a night out, but it's more likely I end up roaming the streets. Just walking for 3-5h straight, headphones on, but often no music.
...
On the positive side, it does solve the issue of too much gym and not enough cardio.

It is almost meditation what you describe. I like to meditate when I have the time and remember to do it. Meditation is one step further though I think. I have a good beginners book on meditation called "Mindfulness in Plain English." It can apparently help with do it yourself psychotheraphy too if you do it often enough -- which I don't. I'd like to have the time to get more advanced at meditation beyond just getting into a peaceful state of mind.

I don't watch TV. Just unnecessary noise in my opinion. I like quiet much better like the others who posted in this thread. Books are good though I think. But I have trouble finding one I am interested in reading. So that is where meditation comes in. I like to hike in nature as well, again when I have time, which is quiet. I will peruse the Google News to stay a little caught up in the world news.

(I am working now 9 am to 10:30 pm, on two jobs, plus a very part time business, so I don't have much time to meditate anymore let alone do anything relaxing, except weekends relaxing with the kids.)
